Respectfully, “progressive Christianity” is not Biblical Christianity. Having been involved in a cult myself, I’m very sorry you experienced the unBiblical practices and ideologies you did, Jubilee, however, don’t throw out orthodox Christianity. “Progressive Christian” is an oxymoron. Expose the crap out of the unBiblical, cultish practices, but don’t lump actual Biblical doctrine in with them. Respectfully, agreeing with Biblical doctrine and disagreeing with unBiblical doctrine is not anything-phobic. God bless you, Jubilee.

I was an Evangelical for fifteen years!! I'm In The Orthodox Church Now!! As Orthodox, we believe in purity, but we don't believe in priests taking advantage of that!! For us, Saint John Chrysostom Wrote husbands and wives should equally love and care for each other!!

The type of theology that is taught in a place like Bethel it's so damaging brainwise, it's a miracle that she even believes in God. they will mess with your head... it's going to take time for her to come back to what scripture says. all of the teachings that she has received have Twisted her perception of God.

No such thing as a progressive Christian. Also no such thing as a homophobic, bible-based, doxtrinally sound church (Romans 1:18-32, emphasis on verses 24-27). Being a progressive reduces your credibility

What do you even mean by "Purity Culture"? Can you explain? Obviously Scripture says we shouldn't have sex outside of marriage and you say you're a Christian so I want to understand what you mean.What Scriptures are you referencing?

Physically, some women do not have hymens. Other women break their hymens through physical activity and not sexual activity. The idea of "bleeding for your husband" is just gross and judgmental.

The Gospel is not the law. By design. It is the power of God unto salvation through Christ. Some of the stuff we do to retroactively try to un-break the law does indeed seem to come from social pressures and not from the leading of God. Hello my name is Travis. I don't use a label for what I believe. I'm a Man of God who believes Jesus is the Christ. Son of the Living God. I use to be in Prosperity Church and have seen many things. Most was Not of God. They would Pray over people's wallets, pray for healing and tell you to claim the healing. The day the real Holy Spirit opened my eyes was the day Pastor Ronnie Adkins forced kids to pray in tongues. Let me know if you want me to type my whole testimony. I knew Bethal was not of God but I didn't think it was this dark. I'm so glad you got out of that Situation. Most people would get Lost and torn between Is God showing me to leave or is it the Enemy trying to make me leave where God wants me? It took great strength to do what you did and it's awesome your exposing them! I subbed and will be watching for updates. I'll be praying for you as well God Bless!

There was a Bible reading plan handed out at the beginning of the year that I believe was recommended, but it was not the focus. It was self monitored, whereas our homework was based off of their books

I’ve never heard the term “Purity Culture.” Scripture definitely calls sex outside of heterosexual marriage sin. I, however, don’t think that legislating sex is the answer to holiness. Your sexual life is between you & God and it doesn’t hurt me. I have no room to judge. Maybe that makes me a progressive Christian, I don’t know. Labels are misleading. Sounds like Bethel went about it a little cringey, though. “Bleeding for your husband?” How would he know if healing happened? Could have just been rough sex? Ewwww…

2ND COMMENT BUT wow I just had the most amazing passage come up via another video while I was still thinking about you. The woman caught in adultery who Jesus saves from condemnation and says “go and sin no more” Jesus who truly healed and restored bodies and souls didn’t make it weird. He turned her accusers away and told her to start again NOW. A woman in adultery has to have an obvious affair partner who was also liable. Unless they didn’t mean “caught in the act” the way I always assume, but perhaps, she failed some indicative “test”. Jesus gave her a new beginning with no mention of a new body.

not saying bethel is perfect but they were wrong in accepting someone sexually active only stopping as a criteria to go to a school.
