The article actually states that "1 in 5 Americans will be mixed race". But somehow I don't think that racism will ever die especially with the ebb and flow of immigration laws. And I feel like black women get the brunt of this racism. Black men have been dating white women since the beginning of time, but I can speak from experience, when a black woman does it, she receives much more criticism from the black community.

MrThekidisback Actually that isn't totally true. There are many black men who date and marry white women rich and poor and YES they catch heck about it often. But this is something people have actually grown accustomed to. The issue with the rich black man is that when they weren't rich...most of them dated black women exclusively. When the money rolled in they turned to white women exclusively. The message there is that we were only worthy of them when they didn't have anything, as if a white woman is an upgrade. I personally think a good woman white or black is the only kind of upgrade. I'm not mad at a man for dating a white lady, but her skin color does NOT enhance her value. :-)

Technically, yes. But at the same time, mixed people are generally perceived to be the darker of the two races they are. Especially in America. We still have the remnant of the "one drop rule" unfortunately. So if Tia and Tamera had to check off their race in a box and "mixed" was not an option, they would be forced to check "black."

well I mean aside from "color" everyone is mixed. There's even some "full white ppl" who trace their backgrounds and find that they have African ancestry. I just get frustrated because me being a bi-racial woman in a relationship with a white man I get so many rude comments from all spectrums. Some of which ask me why i don't "stay with my own race", and date a black guy, but in reality, I kind of am "staying with my own race". (halfway at least lol). Priscilla Owusu Pankyee Well we went to Church with them. I cant disclose the name, but the Church that I attended with them was located on Adams blvd and La Brea here in Los Angeles, CA. They were teenagers at the time. They would attend church with there mother, there father was there with us at the service on a random basis. I and my family only sat two rows behind them once. But I always sat on the top balcony with my sisters. We had other celebrities that attended our the church at the time, it was not always them. They were filming " Sister Sister" at the time. But when they would walk in or exit the church service people would say hello to them, but those were folks who were apart of the church. You keep you distance just to show respect to them. There is more i want to say, but I need to leave that alone. The girls are in a better place and they are happy and living there lives respectfully.

Everyone is already "mixed". We all come from Africa. The different cultures and races (or skin colors) is due to the great diaspora. Then, people would breed or mate with people of their skin color, creating large groups of the same race (with similar features such as eyes, nose and hair texture/color). It's really very simple. My sister looks black and has all the dark features. Now I had a baby with a bi-racial man (Vietnamese, and German), and my son looks Hawaiian. My sister married a white man and her daughter is light-skinned with blonde hair, while her son is darker-skinned with dark hair and features. In my family there is only love, not a basic or prominent race. In turn, our children are taught to love and like the inside of a person, not their appearance, because appearances can be misleading, and they are usually the armor one chooses to present to the world.
