if the people ain't scammers it could work. it was great when the first released on skyrim.. before the quality control, or lack thereof, killed them because of how easy it was to scam. having full sets of mods at a higher quality than we could get before would be a blessing, but only if its at a higher quality and more than what we can get from other mods. the whole point is that we can get officially supported things, at higher quality than all but the most dedicated moders, at a better rate. It would have to be damn good for people to take it seriously again, though.

Would love to see more accurate terrain lod as well as increased shadow distance for the Next Gen update. Those two things are a blessing visually for Fallout 76 and Starfield that I would love to see in Fallout 4.

@@GHOST25938 if your on PC that already exists in the form of mods, well sort of, the Boston part of the city is still the bottleneck bane of the entire commonwealth no matter what hardware you use. but that is what we want in the base game, we shouldn't have to need mods and tweaks to make the game function like it should out of the box, but whenever bethesda updates things nowadays they often make things far worse, so i just don't trust them.

For script extender mods, that is unfortunately not possible. The mods are version dependent, which means there is nothing BGS can do to prevent it. Non-BGS games have the same issues with similar mods.

@@peentzif you know what was originally fallout 3 you’d be annoyed at new vegas. So much of it was watered down… Then because new vegas hired a kid to voice… the van Vernon PDFs and references were nuked because of a born ghoul was also questionable in that game. This happened when the frontiers mod came out and people were raging about a birthday card proving a character was 18, and of course someone sabotaged the mod before it was released. And then we have Obsidian refusing to pay it’s staff and Chris Avolon leaving because of that. Of course then we have the Obsidian lawyers threaten him when he got w new job because ‘the contract says you can’t work in the industry unless it’s for Obsidian’ Chris brought that up and Obsidian fans attacked him. The fallout wiki archive has more of the old stuff then the current wiki.

Bethesda is like a parent with two children, one is elder scrolls and the other is Fallout. Now guess which one was adopted. Obsidian clearly had more passion and know how when creating an engaging and memorable fallout experience with a fraction of time and resources that bethesda has. Of course you can say that bethesda revived the series with 3, and paved the way for new vegas, but I think that was largely because at the time bethesda provided a large amount of manpower, and a new engine, and assets for the game to be constructed. But in actuality they don't really give a crap

This update is probably going to break some mods that make it fresh and playable well past the normal expiration of most games. And that would suck so bad. that's why i never get the latest update on the game anymore, more often than not it will come with some more issues and only solve some issues while breaking everything else. i would rather wait 3 to 6 months before i get the update after release of that update, it was like this for cyberpunk and witcher 3 update as well, it came out buggy as hell, until recently for cyberpunk, not sure about witcher 3 though.

An engine upgrade would potentially introduce more problems than it practically solves. That would be very irresponsible to mess around. However, they could be back-patching many problems with the Creation Engine of Fallout 4 to make easier to deal with on different situations, more addons and mods, a wider variety of modern computers etc. I'm down for better textures, modern looking shaders with some nice-looking post-processing presets - running much better on modern machines. That being said, if Bethesda manages to serve New Vegas as an addon to Fallout 4, I will GIVEAWAY ALL MY BELONGINGS TO BETHESDA AND ACCEPT THEM AS OUR OVERLORDS AND I WILL NOT STOP UNTIL THE ENTIRE WORLD IS CONVERTED TO OUR NEW RELIGION.

I'm just hoping that this next-gen update will solve the "game does not recognise your graphics card" issue I've been having on my new PC for over 4 years. I have no issues with Fo76, ESO or Skyrim, but for some reason, Fo4 absolutely hates my graphics card and I don't know why. I've tried all the fixes the support team has offered me, I've had a friend who's good with computers talk me through several very complicated fixes and still nothing.

Well, if you don't use any CC content I'd advise everybody to just migrate their load orders to the GoG version of the game. The GoG version is easy to revert to previous versions (essentialy a drop down menu in GoG Galaxy), and only contains the base game +DLC. Also, I'm pretty sure the GoG version isn't getting the update.

There is a another way to play your old version of Fallout 4 or Skyrim with all old mods. Just set the game to update only when you launch the game, and then always start the game using F4SE or SKSE, that way steam never gonna update the game, and you can still play on your old version, but if you run game normally even once everything will then break. Im still playing Skyrim on the old version that way right now, and it's working just normally.

At this point, I think a requirement for updating graphics on games (especially Bethesda games) is to take a look at the mods to see what they are capable of and try to make it better. I remember when Skyrim Special Edition came out, and it took people years to transition over and most of what I heard was "Why would I switch over to Skyrim SE when the modded version of the original looks better?" And I think the only reason they transitioned was because the SE finally has the mods they wanted to begin with.

There is zero chance of porting it to the FO76 engine, not without slapping a full priced fee on it. This is Bethesda we're talking about, they're a greedy, grubby company that keeps breaking Skyrim's mods because it wants to push creation kit content the majority of players have no interest in. FO4 will be some minor bug fixes, graphic updates, perhaps at best some UI updates. There won't be any quests, and I guarantee 100% that us PC players will once again be shafted by them, after all, that's what MS have been doing to us for close to 25 years.

I can stop the update from happening, but it remains pending, and a game will not launch if there is an update pending. one thing that be good is if they add new quest's which where you take over a part on the map for a small amount of time which would remove some useless stuff such as rubbish,cars or items that doesnt store loot by having increased enemys in that area only for the quest and the rewards would be a large amount of materials and some weapon,armor etc. and after the quest since more things has been removed it might increase performace or even better just remove some rubble and the bins etc.

Unfortunately, I will have to avoid this update like the plague. I do not think that BGS should profit off of the modding and fixes that modders have been doing since Morrowind. Giving some of the modders a cut when the modders are doing the actual work on games that are over 12 years old & 9 years old for FO4 (by 2024). Better to directly donate to your favorite modders than give Microsoft more money in my opinion. Hopefully the fixes and patches that BGS provides will be implemented by our favorite modders who've been fixing these games for decades. Making sure my auto updates in Steam remain off for FO4, as Fallout 4 do not have the downgrader mod as SSE. Oh well.

It is feeling small by Japanese machine translation. I played FO4 for about 7,000 hours. I intend to play from this still more. I became able to make simple mod all too soon. By the way, I will tell you what most popular mod is in FO4. It is CBBE. (I comment for a person not to know. It is mod which makes a woman nude. lol). Nobody demands 4K solution. If image quality is important, nobody plays Minecraft. To tell the serious thing, if it sees early FO76, it is clear that stories and characters are the most important. I cleared America Rising 2 several days ago. It was very interesting. Somebody said, Bethesda should make DLC like this. I love Sim Settlements 2, Project Valkyrie, Depravity, Outcasts and Remnants etc. Oops, companion mod must not forget, too. Heather, Darlene. Faiiout London should be able to play soon. It is not appreciated that present mod is not usable.

Remember when a game at release was the game you got, and any content the creators wanted in the game would be there day one or be added within a year of release. Games made back then, could be considered Mod friendly. Bethesda rolling out an update 8 years later, that breaks mods, is kinda the opposite, is it not? Unless the Creation Club content are the only mods, Bethesda are talking about, when they call their games mod friendly. After 8 years, it's probably fair to expect, that most of the modders that made content in the games first couple of years, aren't going to return and update the content they made for free. And not only that. The starfield modding tools haven't even come out yet, and after seing this development, does Bethesda really expect the modders to come to Starfield, only for them to roll out updates for that game the next 8 years, that they will rutinely have to update and manage to keep their mods working. I say Bethesda is choking the last life out of their modding community for good with this annoncement. Hope you like the prices in the Creation Club, because that will eventually be the only mods you can get for their games.

robust script engine update is more than anything needed for this game. The dlss if they add that would be nice I guess, you can get that for 5 bucks permanent already, though. Need the engine to do more with mods than it currently can. Also fix the memory issue with the engine and we golden.

Lost World (STALKER Version) is the modlist. The main landscape overhaul included with it is called "A Forest."

What I fear is that great mods who the mod authors are no longer modding and no longer supporting their mods and have left the community will just be unusable. I alter mods I use all the time but it is just for my use in my game and I never post them. I do inform the mod creator and make it known it will never see the light of day on modding platforms. F4SE will most likely be trashed for sure and all mods that require it and even mods that do not. We will have to see.

With every Bethesda game, they should take a look at the top 10-20 popular mods and make them NATIVE to the base game. Its called "listening to your audience/fanbase". Its like they look and see "Hmmm... Fans mainly want to see improvements in lighting and weather, soooo....let's focus the update on 4k resolution dust particle textures! Practically the same thing, right?"

FPS is nice an all but as an Xbox player I’ll be happy with a boost to mod capacity, 2gb just doesn’t cut it with the size of mods now

If FO:NV gets remastered then i certainly hope Obsidian does it. BGS has shown that they do not care enough about their franchises by the lack of polishing and lack of interesting well crafted content in it. I honestly hope BGS goes the same route that cdpr did with making achievements still enable when you download mods because BGS has stated multiple times that they love that people mod their games yet they do the greedy thing of forcefully disabling achievemnets when mods are downloaded. And we do all know that mods will fix alot of issues with the games that BGS is to lazy to fix.

I like New Vegas’ gameplay better than FO4’s so I hope that part remains the same. The latter made vats not so fun. One thing FO3 did better than new Vegas(perks every level too) was VATS and keeping the turn based aspect alive.

@@teneleven2818 If obsidian gets to remaster fo:nv then i can confidently say that most likely these issues will be fixed plus the cut content will be added to the game. Obsidian hasn’t lost any trust so far. Bethesda has made 3 fallout games and yet none of them has beaten NV.

@@ArtTsi-x6c True. The outer world may have been lack luster but not as lack luster as the games Bethesda has released. Skyrim was the least lack luster game that BGS has created other then oblivion.

@@UmadDrnkCaffeine It's insane just looking at the difference between fallout 3 and new vegas in how much heart was put into the latter. Hell let them do what they did last time: use the fallout 4 engine and resources and make a new vegas equivilant for fallout 4. Not fallout new vegas necessarily just something in the same spirit of what nv was to fallout 3. Better balanced, better customization, better story, better world building(hard to fail considering fallout 4's was almost non existant). If bethesda is good at laying foundations let them do that, and let a studio like obsidian build the house.

I'm also fine with Bethesda taking their time if the extra time taken means we'll get a better product, but Bethesda is Bethesda don't forget and extra time doesn't necessarily equate to a better product. Starfield was 25 years in the making and look what we got.

One thing that would make it especially worth to me would be if they can get Playstation to allow external assets for mods, so we can get the fun mods xbox can get, but i doubt itll happen

In case you didn't know, Fallout 4 is completely unstable on the XBox Series consoles, the game crashes all the time, it runs smooth with FPS Boost, but there's something going really wrong with the new systems. You can play to a point, and then it start crashing here and there for no reason, and the further you go in the game the more it happens. Players don't report the same issue with PS5 or PC, and it did not crash so often on XBox One. That's simple as that, for exemple, at the moment you cannot play on survival difficulty on XBox Series, cause the game will crash all the time, and as you can't save whenever you want. If you ask me that's the main problem with this update, they probably need to adjust way more than just optimization tweaks, for it to run as it should, there's a compatibility issue somewhere between XBox's Hardware and the game.

As I understand it, an uncapped framerate would break F4 as its physics are famously tied to the framerate. In fact if they wanted to uncap the framerate, they may as well port the whole game to F76's engine which basically entails remaking the game from the ground up. Since their focus rn is on Starfield and ramping up production on TES VI, I think that it's unrealistic to expect a total rebuild of F4 basically ever.

You don’t need to rebuild the game to untie the physics/gametime from the framerate. Evidence? There is a mod to do just that.

Didn't anyone else notice the Fallout 4 update the other day? They changed the icon for creation club credits. The full next gen update should have been then, but no, gotta get a sales bump from the delayed show. At least the PS5 doesn't allow external assets, so I only had two $5 paid mods on my Skyrim instead of the flea market I saw on some streams.

TBH the "high resolution texture pack" for Skyrim was pretty buggy and has to be fixed via mods. In fact I'd recommend just using the fan-made textures on Nexus like Tamriel Retextured, or if you have a fairly good rig, get an entirely new experience with the Novlus Skyrim Mod Pack.

I wouldn't touch this update with a 10 foot pole - just in case they destroy mod support like they have done with Skyrim. But will we get the choice? Or will the game be updated automatically through Steam whether we like it or not?

I love this series and want to love Fallout 4, but the bug in the first Minutemen quest really was a bummer. (Bug where the quest won’t complete even after taking out all the monsters .)😢

FO4 is my most played game in my life (1000 hours!) and my favourite game ever. i was lookin forward to this update! and then i played Cyberpunk... Never would i have thought that Cyperpunk would dethrone FO4!!

Quibble over Fallout 4 engine vs Fallout 76 engine as much as you want, but there is NO INDOOR RAIN in Fallout 76. No longer having rain falling through every floor of my concrete structures would be all I require from a next gen update.
