It’s strange to think that DOOM was initially about an angry soldier killing demons in an Alien-esque setting over a rabbit to suddenly a cinematic cocktail between Warhammer 40k, Dark Souls, and God of War while making the gameplay great. Can’t wait to play this in the future! If anything, I prefer the glory kills from 2016 and Eternal better.

I'm honestly so happy for it. I loved the speed of Eternal and was worried when i saw how slow the Dark Ages seemed to be. So having a built in speed slider is like... *chefs kiss*

I mean, it sounds pretty great so far, at least what I could hear from the trailer. I'm extremely disappointed with the whole Mick situation but I believe ID at least put in the due diligence to make a great soundtrack. They know their target audience, I doubt they'd fumble the OST.

5:50-5:53 I’m not sure how I feel about the shield grapple… it feels like it jerks the camera in a weird way that is disorienting. I would be thrown off if I had to do that maneuver consecutively at odd angles and turns. And the little leap was SUPER DELAYED… it would make me feel like my jump was too short.

I'm coming at this with some hesitance, currently. Story, setpieces, slower but more approachable combat, a more open level design; these are all things that I would not have expected from a new Doom game, nor are they things that I would have asked for. I have not seen anything I dislike, but it was very much outside of my expectations.

I think at some point they just kind of reached the limits of the current system and can't really expand on it without bloating, so I think a radically new approach is a good thing personally.

Yet you missed the part where you can make it faster and harder. And you can always ignore story if all you want is an Arena shooter. I for one loved every single bit presented. I guess we have different views of DOOM and it's potential. A totally mindless fast-paced shooter is just a setback. So this is much better. It allows for more.

Finishers are lame. Its one of the reasons I haven't bothered to play doom it looks boring after about 3 kills. Almost anything that removes/limits player movement is wrong. I'll try this new game looks alright.
