Just wrote this while listening to Sister Heroin for about the twentith time in the last couple of days, Powerful truth about love, sorry for your loss. So many words I had to say They just got buried on the way Lost in word craft suicide Spoken to the dead after they've died Cried in the night and never sent Buried deep in life's regret Broken lines on broken faces Broken people in empty places Time for song sung in the dark Warning heard you never hark Some time for dreams before I wake Remembered nevermore Did I say the words I can't remember Where we were When it turned December How you cried When life turned cold Were we ever young Or forever old Lay a pebble by my stone Turn to go Then walk alone I can't remember anymore If I said I love you

Goodbye white trash beauty Queen Your crooked heart & your beat up Dreams, I love you... It hurts to laugh here without you A piece inside of us is gone. Mama tries to smile too Ain't never seen that woman try so hard. No more working Alvarado No more liars, tramps or thieves. Your skin & bones don't cast no shadow On an empty bed in Motel Six So goodbye Sister heroine I'll remember everything, I love you. 👏 IDK why there aren’t more comments, and recent ones at that, on this 💖 beautiful, heartfelt, emotional song!? Also, the videos from this 5-year old concert only showed up on YT less than a week ago IIRC. I’m going on 70, and ‘discovered’ Beth when she did a duet with Joe Bonamassa on ‘I’ll Take Care of You’, and then others with him, Jeff Beck, Eric Gales, etc. THIS, and the other songs from the same concert, show a completely different side and style of her versatility. She’s playing the 🎹, and not the 🎸 for the 1st time I’ve noticed out of ALL her other 👍 music. Beth has gone thru SO much ‘pain’ and has dealt with ‘demons’ of various types over time, but fortunately was able to overcome them. She now writes expressive lyrics about them, and thereby ‘help’ others to cope with their own.

Always think of my wife when I hear this tears streaming down my face thinking how such a beautiful person could die so tragically

🤔 I’ve been listening to/watching this video over and over again since finding it this morning. IDK if Beth’s lyrics are meant to be ‘talking’ about HER OWN past when she was on drugs and suffered other ‘bad’ times earlier in her life, questioning her own worth, which she overcame, and is basically saying ‘goodbye’ to herself of those days. OR if she’s singing about the loss of someone dear to her from an overdose. I’m not sure how to interpret them, but it’s VERY 💖 beautiful regardless!

Privileged to be at this show. A sad song but sung beautifully. This lady is a superstar but does small theatre shows as well as the big arenas which is wonderful..A truly great artist with a beautiful voice …

My little sister killed herself a few years ago, one week before Christmas. She’d finally kicked the habit and got her life straight when her bf cheated. That was the tipping point. Thanks Beth for keeping it real and for shedding light on the darkest of things. ❤

An absolutely incredible song, a sad commentary on the truths of love and pain. I just found this song for the first time today, wrote this while listening to it again tonight.
