One of the greatest voices in Metal, from a band who made it with no support from record labels. Go back to the early and mid 80's, when they were first finding their way, some epic songs, some brutal head banging classics, and some sublime ballads, then get a copy of the whole 'Hail To England' album, play it effing loud. I love Eric Adams. Certainly in my top 5 of metal vocalists. His range, his power, his dynamics, his versatility, top notch. And his high pitched screams rival those of the Metal God himself. Eric Adams is fantastic and it's a shame he gets overlooked in "top x metal vocalists" lists all the time because Manowar is kind of goofy. But what they do they do to perfection. And I think people take this whole True Metal schtick much too serious. Overall Manowar are a bit too more-of-thesame-y, but still, they kick ass and Eric Adams is truly impressive. About the "story telling" - they sometimes have stories preceding their songs, partly spoken by the likes of Orson Welles. Yes, THAT Orson Welles. They also use an introduction he has recorded for them. When I was in my 20s I loved nothing more than blasting The Warrior's Prayer from my car with open windows while waiting at a red light, which is a story about a grandfather telling his grandson a bedtime story. With special effects. It ends with "Who were those four men?" "Who were they? THEY WERE THE METAL KINGS!" - at which point Blood Of The Kings starts with an insanely high pitched scream with lots of distortion. People always reacted hilariously. The story drew them in and the scream left them in shock and pretty damn confused. Another fun fact: I've used parts of different Manowar songs as part of my final English test in school. Got a pretty good mark for it as well ;)
@METALMAN-gp2kw3 жыл бұрын
Sascha- I have always thought that Adams is one of the better metal vocalist out there, and that he and the band did not receive the respect that they deserved from the music industry. During the 80's you almost never heard Manowar on the radio, or on MTV in the US. I was kind of a wierdo, in the group of metalheads that I hung around with in high school. while they mostly listened to Metallica, Megadeth, Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, and the like (don't get me wrong, I do like listening to those bands, but...) I liked some of the underdog, not so popular metal bands like, Armored Saint, Manowar, Celtic Frost, Fate's Warning, ect.

I'm a huge Manowar fan from Bulgaria and when speaking of breaking records, Manowar broke the world record for the longest heavy metal concert here in Bulgaria ... I think it was 2008. They were on the stage 5 hours. Actually, I remember that after 4 and a half hours, the lights were shut and they announced that a new record had been set. It was like the show is over, but they went back and Joey DeMaio said that this is not serious ... 4 hours and a half ... let's make if five. It was a dream come true! They will be forever THE KINGS OF METAL! But, as my brothers below pointed, this is just one small piece of the power they posses.

Eric can get away with whispering, because his PA is so loud, you can feel his voice vertebrate in your chest. I've had the pressure of seeing them live one time and that was my experience. Never ever have I experienced sound quality and clarity like that of a Manowar gig. I could feel his vocal vibrations through my entire body, which is something that I've never experienced in a concert before. If magic circle wouldnt delete user uploads of live videos you could watch for sure. I was on 2 manowar concerts and uploaded some songs of it, but magic circle decided to remove my video (and any other videos by other users)

I'm not the biggest Manowar fan, truth be told, but Eric Adams is without a doubt one of THE voices of classic metal, and he deserves much more love and respect than he's getting.

Can you react to something from Doro/Warlock? Old school metal, strong female voice and very strong present on the stage.

other bands play, MANOWAR KILLS!!!!!! Eric Adams is one of the vocalist in metal. Hail the Kings of Metal! I also highly recommend Powerwolf Attila is classically trained and has an amazing voice.

Great analysis miss Roars, I'm truly impressed of how you accepted the metal suggestions and, I think, you star to like the enormous amount of talent in the metal community. Btw I loved the last video of the stereotypes and the impression of the general people still has about the metal culture.

A lot of people poke fun at Manowar, but the one thing nobody can ever deny is they’ve never sold out for anything other than what they’ve always stood for. They’ve never wavered in what they believe and who they are, that’s commendable

Always loved the dynamics of Eric Adams's voice -- the lowest of the lows and highest of the highs, and so many tones in between!
