I mostly did website monitoring...they would ask for my opinion on some marketing things like styles of shirts due to me being beyond die hard fan...seriously I can tell you what song is going to be played by the guitar changes...it was awesome and I'm very grateful...id also point out it was volunteer work...I only got paid in concert tix and merch which saves me thousands...so I'm super happy

I literally grew up listening to Chris. We use to order records by mail from SubPop and search out exclusive colored vinyl 45’s from obscure record stores. We hunted out warehouse shows and small clubs hoping to see our favorites. Soundgarden was at the top of that list. Imagine late 80’s /early 90’s a small club, cigarette smoke and stale alcohol, the heaviness of the instruments and his voice above it all. They were Gods in our eyes and that voice was heaven. I will NEVER as long as I live forget the two times I saw Chris Cornell solo live & unplugged just a few years before his death... It was beyond a concert to me. He had us all completely enthralled with the performance... I really really loved the way he ended his set with Blow Up the Outside World! He did this really sick layered outro that sounded BEYOND amazing. One of the most tragic losses in the history of music, but I'm ever grateful for the incredible music he left behind.

Was at lollapalooza years ago and watched soundgarden up close. Me and my friends watched the show and it was awesome. Started raining and slowed down and chris played black hole sun acoustic while I guess the rest of the band took a break or something. Really was an awesome stage presence alone. I'm glad you talk about the change in his voice and his off-days. It doesn't take anything away from him. We love that he expressed himself naturally and wasn't overly rehearsed/perfected. But it takes its toll! The posthumous Live from the Artists Den album was a capture of a really rough performance from him and I wonder if he would have wanted it released

I was a metalhead coming out of high school when grunge hit. I was a big fan of the "Seattle scene" music, and have an interesting anecdote about Chris from that time. Disclaimer- I was told this story by a friend back in those days. Reliable source, but still, grain of salt and all. Cameron Crowe directed "Singles", which took place in Seattle and somewhat revolved around the grunge scene (incidentally, it did including many cameos of those early grunge stars including Chris). Well, one of the characters (played by Matt Dillon) had a band, and they needed a name for the band and a song for them. They asked Chris to write the song, and they apparently came up with over 20 potential names for the band. As a "joke"/for fun, Chris wrote a song for each of them. What a musician! My fave song from him came from that soundtrack; "Seasons". For faves from him, that's closely followed by "Mind Riot" and "Room A Thousand Years Wide."

This was great. Kudos for mentioning his guitar playing… his slightly unorthodox approach was such an underrated part of what made Soundgarden, Soundgarden. I really enjoyed the way Chris seemed to truly embrace the change in his voice on Revelations, the third and final Audioslave album. Tracks like “Original Fire”, “Jewel of the Summertime”, and “Nothing Left to Say But Goodbye” really sound like him changing his approach, which seemed to serve him well when Soundgarden reunited some years later. Not being a singer myself, I can’t really quantify what that change was… but it worked for him and the way his voice had evolved.

Went to see Neil Young around 1994 , he was doing a tour with Soundgarden who opened for him. Young is known as the grandfather of grunge which is why they did a tour together. Obviously NY was the reason I went but I was looking forward to seeing Soundgarden as they were one of the top new acts at that time. I sat 5th row, just too the left of center, perfect seats. Chris Cornell was amazing from the moment he hit the stage right until they left. My now life partner enjoyed singing in local community choruses and although not a trained professional she knew a great voice when she heard it. Grunge wasn't one of her favorite genres but when she heard Chris Cornell for the 1st time, which was this live show, she was amazed. The fact he played backup/rhythm guitar and sang at the same time with such range amazed her even more. Sad ending to a musician with a unique and rare talent.

He was incredible - right up there with Robert Plant (although both a step down from the unique abilities of Freddy Mercury). He was also a really nice man - I met him briefly backstage at a big show - and a friend drummed for Soundgarden on their last tour. He was a really thoughtful and big-hearted man.

Thank you Beth - as a huge fan of his music since the early 90s, it's fascinating to see a breakdown of not just his insane vocal range, singing techniques and musicianship, but also some appreciation for his contributions to society and the kind of person he was. "When I'm down" at the Troubadour also remains my favourite live performance of his too, there's more emotion packed into that single performance than some artists manage in a decade. It was a great loss to the world and to music when Chris died.

I honestly don't like or subscribe much because I feel that there are so many "wanna be"composers of uneducated and sloppy content, but I'd like to say in your case that that was just about perfect. Educational, honest, compassionate and without prejudice. Im a big Chris Cornell fan, and you might say I'm bias, but this was as honest of a presentation I've ever seen. You should be proud of yourself, and others need to learn from your example. Thank You!
