I can't tell if you're going into both sides of the same stich or not? (you're thumb keeps covering it, until you move your hook and I miss it)

In the case of this video, I only put the hook in one loop for one stitch. (2:32) However, this is not a mandatory rule. In some cases, I may put the hook in both loops of a stitch. (Example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5OqgHaJZqeoY7Msi=Of84ARoeuOIKjw64&t=58)

Я левша и не сильно поняла объяснение. Я только начала, и я попыталась делать так. Петля ОТ себя - против часовой. Петля близ себя - по часовой. Делают ли так другие левши, и как вы рекомендуете?
