Betsy the Havanese has a nightly litter box routine!💩

OMG how did you train her to do that? I’ve never seen a dog litter box trained. Betsy you are so smart!

I started by putting just a little bit of litter in the box and covering it with paper. She would go in there on the paper and then I would immediately change it and put in new paper. After a few days I took the paper away and she had been so used to going in there on the paper that she went on the litter. Eventually I added more and more litter as she got comfortable with it. I made sure she always had a litter box around wherever she was and looked for signs that she needed to go bringing her to it. Really any dog can be litter trained if you have a litter box big enough for them. Betsy is small so it worked out well. Also my husband and I are both retired so we were home and watchful. People have asked if this means she won't go outside because they think she might be confused about it. It is not the case. She goes outside whenever we take her for a walk with no problem. Litter boxes are great for apartment people or Condo people like us.

That is brilliant as Havanese are notoriously difficult to house train in the normal sense.
