I think the nesting behaviors of animals is really interesting and the betta fish do not disappoint (2:21). Thanks for another excellent video!

I used to have a little betta fish. She was the cutest thing ever. She died a few years ago though. ;-;

I had one of this before, we just simply called them Fighting Fish. I completely forgot about my Fish back then and didn't fed it for almost a year so it died. I was just a toddler, and didn't know what they eat. Thanks to your video, I'm now determined to own one again and this time there's going to be love. So much love that my fish will drown in it.

I've seen them labeled as fighting fish. Sorry to hear about your first fish, it's tough as a toddler to care for animals!

Awesome video! Does anyone happen to know the life span of a Betta? I’ve had one (his name is Elvis) for 5 years and 2 months. I’m so excited about the longevity of his life, but am curious about expectancy. I’ve heard several different things regarding this.
@AnimalFactFiles4 жыл бұрын
Three years is what's commonly given as their average life expectancy, but while reading about them I was seeing people discussing theirs living past a decade. I think the differences arise in people not always understanding necessary husbandry for these little ones, but it sounds like you're doing a great job with yours!! Elvis sounds like a strong guy!!

Animal Fact Files thanks for the reply/info. Yes, that’s pretty much what I found out while researching also. Thank you so very much! Yes he’s a very strong boy that I enjoy so very much! I’ve even had the pleasure of witnessing several of his bubble nests! No girlfriend for him, but the nests are wonderful to see nonetheless 🤩🥰 😍 🐟

@@hannahismylastname1420 is it still alive? i think the 3 years span is for fish in the wild. a while ago someone told me outside cats have a 3 year life expectancy. my outside(feral) cats have lived upwards of 15 years now. i had one go past 20.

Did you replouded the video? And if bettas go extinct in the wild they would be conserved by fish keepers right? Ab example would be white mountain cloud minnows which are almost extinct in the wild but are bred in captivity
@FieryCoal4 жыл бұрын
Yes, but not many people really keep wild types, unlike the white cloud which is so common I have some in a tank next to me
@Fumango4 жыл бұрын
@@FieryCoal oh yea but im talkin about betta splendens the domesticated morph
@AnimalFactFiles4 жыл бұрын
We did have an older betta video, but it needed some fixes. This video was remade from the ground up. We redid the script, recorded new voice over, and found new footage. It's basically a brand new video! =) In regards to them being kept in captivity, there's a lot of hybridization with domestic bettas, so that might be a problem if extinction did occur in the wild (basically whether or not a "pure" B. splendens specimen is available). Of course, hybridization is also occurring in the wild, so that's a contributing factor, too. Though at the rate bettas are kept as pets, it's unlikely the domestic ones are going away anytime soon. =)

I know they're saying it the right way, but I still like the pronunciation that sounds like the other word: beta.
