I was lucky enough to see Bette Midler in concert 6 times. It wasn't a concert though, every show was a performance of theatrical proportions!!!!! I met her 3 times and she was such a sweetheart!!!! I'm proud to have her as a idol!!!!!

There will never be another Bette Midler. I`m glad her work was present during my lifetime. I didn`t get to see this show. The work that went into it is further proof of Miss Midler`s commitment to her craft. Very appreciative we have KZbin to show us these gems.

Wish I could have been there, or at any other show! I saw her on tv in my student time, together with the students of the house, in our big kitchen. We were blown away. We needed tissues for the laughter and the weeping. It was beautiful. She is beautiful.

Thank you for posting this. I had the privilege of seeing a performance of this tour in Milwaukee... unfortunately I was 13 at the time and a good chunk of the jokes went over my head. I've been hoping for years for someone to post a video of the entire show as a walk down memory lane, and truly appreciate the jokes I missed as a young teenager.

I have seen the Divine One I think 4 times, Bette always brings a smile to my face. When I was in College her Do You Want to Dance album was the hit album, followed by many more. Bette also has a double album recorded in Seattle in the '80s. I highly recommend this recording as well. A friend of mine when and saw her in Seattle did not know who Bette was and told me he had seen the most unusual show. The start of the show came out in wheelchairs he enjoyed the show from start to finish.

OMG! I Love this woman! I wonder if she is, in reality, as contrasted as her stage personae - the vulgarian with the tender heart. But, I never want to meet my heroes. If I did, though, I’d have to ask one thing, and the song isn’t even in this show: What made you make Miss Otis a hero? I can’t laugh or cry enough for this show. It is my here and now. Bless you for posting it!
@francesinez126 Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure it's Bette who made her a hero. As written by Cole porter, Miss Otis shoots her husband for infidelity. Taken literally, you could look down on that as vigilantism. But she is a symbol of women asserting their power, rather than being a doormat. Such is Miss Otis' conviction (no pun intended), that she is willing to pay the price for her deed, at the cost of her death by hanging.
@timbohae10 ай бұрын
@@francesinez126 I am rewatching this show and noticed your reply. COle Porter and others sing that song as a dirge, only Bette jazzed it up and danced it into a tribute to Miss Otis' form of justice.
@francesinez12610 ай бұрын
@@timbohae Agreed. [Teeny-tiny point of contention: I don't think Cole Porter did much singing, unless you wanna count college glee club :) ].
