I legit loved Bettel in this event so much, even as someone who foesnt watch a ton of Bettel normally. The Bettel v. Bettel was the match I was most hyped for from the start, and every time he rose in the ranking it just kept getting better and better until the final match with U-San The AI really did play the perfect Bettel role throughout all the matches. The storylines were incredible

Everyone who watched VGCW back in the day knows the score. It was somehow more 'real' than actual wrestling because the winner of the AI matches isn't a script, you just had to write the story around it. It's cool to see the concept live on in a way.

For further context: among Bettel’s first streams were a) a Toreba stream where he won a big goose plush and b) untitled goose game, where he proved he can do a very good goose honk, and which inspired a bunch of Bettel goose art. Then someone made a Bettelgoose fugi, which has been his standard representation in collabs ever since. His most recent birthday merch even includes Bettelgoose rubber ducks. So there definitely are parallels to the Subaru situation, just with someone who liked the association and the idea of taking it on as an extra mascot from the beginning.
