Hubbard studied and knew mind control techniques to "persuade" people to not only work for no pay (and little support) but also persuaded them to pay for their own brainwashing (audits are NOT cheap.) Most cults understand there are quirks built in to the human brain (the designer may call them features) that make humans susceptible to mind control. The only way to combat mind control is to understand how it works. Obviously Hubbard used that knowledge and tax-free status to build a criminal cartel.

I just caught this interview, which is excellent. It is 5 years since this interview and I think it’s fair to say that things haven’t gotten any better for Scientology. Leah Remini’s and Mike Rinder’s television show “Scientology: The Aftermath” pretty much blew the lid off of the cult. In fact, with the upcoming trial of celebrity Scientologist Danny Masterson for alleged inappropriate actions taken against a number of women, (euphemisms deliberate on my part), things are likely going to get much worse for Scientology. I still don’t understand how this cult can maintain Church status when so much information is out there regarding its true intent. For example, Cannane states that the U.S. government found files that came right out and explained the cult’s conspiracy to frame Ms.Cooper. That’s a crime. Actual writings by Hubbard wherein he states his true intentions. The cult’s policy of not allowing victims of crime by other cult members to go to the authorities. Isn’t that Obstruction of Justice? Unless I am referencing the way this cult refers to itself, I avoid ever referring to it as the “Church” of Scientology.
@taylor47782 жыл бұрын
I have watched every show and interview that have been on TV to date, and have read Reminis book, as well as the one written by the other gentleman (not Rinder) who barely escaped with his life on a motorcycle the night he "escaped," and I totally agree with you. The word cult doesn't seem strong enough of a term for the tyranny the members seem to live under, and Miscavige needs to be in a jail cell somewhere far far away from innocent human beings who are easily manipulated. I'm still wondering where he had his poor wife's remains buried because there is no way in hell that I believe she is still alive. I suspect when that mystery is solved, a lot of others will also begin to unravel!

Absolutely not with the auditing. Psychologists & psychiatrists have a “patient” / dr. - therapist confidentiality moral compass. It’s quite horrific what it’s said David Miscaviage has said about Tom Cruise’s sex life. This is why Tom is “handled.” Keeping Tom away from mainstream internet is beneficial for Miscaviage.

After listening to this guy it kind of makes you wonder if, the USA had, had it's act together at the first signs of trouble would America have as much trouble as it currently has with the organization? The USA should have taken its lead from AU and NEVER, EVER have given this slease organization tax exempt status. That was the first mistake. The second mistake was in not monitoring more closely, an organization already under scrutiny for 'shady' operations. It's third mistake was allowing itself to be intimidated by the organization higher-ups. For those reading this that may not be aware church members have literally INVADED every aspect of American society -- and not all of it is good. There are 'secret' workers working at IRS (the US Internal Revenue [Tax] Service), law enforcement -- various police units, city offices, an expansive legal network, etc. Basically, at the first sign of trouble the organization as a whole would have known about it at a moment's notice. These are the people that could secretly make paperwork 'disappear' or change the wording on documents. Their secret employees or monitors were the invisible internal link that would be able to act on behalf of and subsequently notify Church hierarchy thereby of iminent trouble, thereby ensuring that the Church was able to not only keep one step ahead of the opponents, but also in some respects to dodge as many bullets as it can. Today church members in America conservatively hovers around 40,000. Now do you see the problem America has? Any ideas on how that nation can put the genie back into the bottle?

What would happen to all the money if the church did fall? Where would it all go?
@g1a1r1y36 жыл бұрын
I've wondered the same too. But what happens to the money depends on how the church falls- doesn't it. If it just withers away, then I guess much of the money will just accrue, probably overseas and out of the reach of the majority of parishioners. But if the church came down because of legal, political, and tax-related issues- things that affect money, then there may not be much of it left at the end. I've also wondered what would happen to all of that real estate.

I don’t think Scientology is going to die. It should have never lived in the first place. But it did. There are still vulnerable gullible people out there. Many people who left Scientology still believe in it they just don’t like how it is currently being managed. If there is a change in management it will grow again. Scientology just needs a new business model. It is still a cult.

amazing how many ex-Scientoologists have podcasts or are being interviewed, etc. i don't want to know anymore than i now know about all the inane jargon & abbreviations that they like to elaborate on ad nauseum, ok, maybe they're venting, but criminey, the minutia is so sleep inducing & in need of a good shiit canning. for an unsane neurotic, El Roy Hubtard sure had an effect on the world, & here we are, still hearing about his bastard prodigy.

Hubbard's wounded stories, makes me think of John B Thayer III - claiming he jumped in the water off Titanic, stayed in the water over an hour (no hypothermia) and was rescued by Carpathia and got his sketch pad out and sketched the Titanic sinking while on the Carpathia! WTF

The ABC, Late Line, the X-files. All of these sound vaguely familiar. How did they appear in Australia? Well I mean I guess they changed one letter. And added a "The" somewhere else. But they've got plenty of those because they've chopped them all off of phrase "the hospital".

ive noticed in US they started yrs ago with tv ads selling baby products, instead of saying,'' made for your baby, or, for the baby" they'd say," Gerbers, a name u can trust for baby, etc." or Johnson & Johnson," safe for baby'' eliminating THE.

In the USA our IRS is itself an extremely criminal scam that's hard to prosecute as such. Flouting that is one of Hubbard's few good points, but that's about institutional corporate business entities given special perks, and used to discriminate against millions with non-institutional personal religions, or functionally equivalent (if not healthier or less insane) personal ethical paths. The other major issue "ordaining clergy" as institutional religious figures does is exemption from licensing requirements to practice Psychology without a state license in most states, in forms very hard to in turn convict for medical malpractice as a very few clergy in other sects have been held. The traditional "free questions" analysis Scientology uses is a fraud, to entice revealing personal info they in turn use for extortion or abusive manipulation into their pyramid scam. I've managed to block one such effort by them when a seriously mentally ill musician and radio personality I knew was targeted, and tried to direct her into other treatment resources (that she ran from -- maybe cult control can help some people, but they're grossly abusive scammers).
