Would this have the same effect as boosting a scene level from the output block? nice vid man!
@mathew_dale Жыл бұрын
Not exactly. Boosting scene levels is also effective, but using the filter block in this way makes it possible to customize "where" the boosting is happening. I could boost only the dry signal, boost the dry into the wet effects, boost everything (like scene levels), boost pre amp, post amp, pre cab, and so on. More flexible.

n00b question, but I've seen in other videos that people recommend to use the preset leveling tool to get your presets close to 0db. If I commonly use lead boosts in my presets, should I try to target 0db with the boost on, or is a ~+5db level ok to send to FOH etc?

I'd go with targeting 0db with the boost on. Good question Thanks for asking!

great vid! Do you have a copy of the preset you use as an example? I am going to implement this trick w/ my FM3! Thank you!!

Just popped it up on my site! www.mathewdale.com/post/better-boosts I made an FM3 one for you as well. Switch 2 in the factory "scenes" layout should be the "Control Switch 1"

So if you are running series? Filter block will work the same for a boost but will increase the delay and verb level as well (which isn't a bad thing either, just different ways). Thanks for watching and commenting!

Hello Mathew ,thanks for all the great info. I want to use a Null filter as follows. I select any scene, then I decide I need a 3db boost .I then have a switch on my FM9 assigned to turn on & off the filter with each press . This would be used for any scene selected. How would I do that ? Another idea would be to select a scene with the first press, then the second press of the same switch would turn on the filter boost, then 3rd press back to no boost & so on . Is this scenario possible ? Thank you kindly.

Simplest way would be to use the Scene Ignore feature on the Filter block and map the filter bypass to a switch. This will do exactly what you want in your first description. Thanks for watching!
