Another perspective: No reason for Chuck to even write that letter if Jimmy never mattered that much to him, so the letter shows that--even with all the drama between them over the years--he was proud of Jimmy and genuinely cared for him at the point he wrote the letter.

Wow thats just wrong my man. Chucks true feelings are in the letter. But it doesnt concern Jimmy because Jimmy isnt really in the scene. At that point he had become Saul. And Saul has no relationship with Chuck. So no feelings. Whether he did become Saul fully at that point and killed of the Jimmy persona or if it is a temporary defense mechanism is debatable but what is sure is that Jimmy is not the one reading the letter. Gus's obsession with getting personal revenge against Hector was his weakness. He could have let Mike or Nacho kill him off, but he had to do it himself. He could have killed off Hector himself if he wanted, but he was more satisfied to know Hector was helpless, crippled and suffering. And in the end, it left an opening for him to be lured into a trap. Led to his death.

It's amazing that Rhea Seahorn has never won an Emmy for this show. Jimmy was very hard to read this season. He put up a major show if indifference to Chuck's death. It seems like he just wants to move on from Chuck even being a part of his life but that can't be healthy considering Chuck was such a huge part of Jimmy's life. Not to mention everyone else, specifically Kim and Howard, seem to be getting hit hard by the grief. It almost seems like Kim is feeling Jimmy's feelings for him. That letter sounded like it was written years ago when Jimmy was still in the mail room. Chuck makes mention of Jimmy being a valued member of HHM as if he was still working there when Chuck wrote it.

Chuck mentioned that he was part of the HHM family, so I think it was written when Jimmy was still in the mail room before he actually became a lawyer. That was the source of Chuck's eventual jealousy.

Did Gus ever *really* respect Walter? He certainly knew how to play him like a fiddle to get him to cook for him, and at first he just offered him a three month contract, after which he fully intended to throw him to the Cousins. When Walt started to catch on that such a limited contract with Gus had an ominous subtext to it, Gus offered to make it open-ended, but unlike with Jesse, who you could actually see Gus develop a genuine respect and affection for, with Walt Gus always kept his true feelings hidden behind that maddingly impassive mask.
@dunringill17474 жыл бұрын
@@briangonigal3974 To me, Gus could respect others, but he placed himself above them all. They were tools to be used to his advantage, Jesse included. Gus was not always this way, but he learned to emotionally distance himself from people after Max Arciniega was shot in the head. At least that is my opinion on it.
