I was really surprised that Kim didn't yell at him, but rather was mostly silent. And while I expected her to tell him to turn himself in, I didn't it expect it to be out of sympathy ("I don't know what kind of life you're living, but it can't be much" or whatever the exact line was). But it's so fitting. Jimmy absolutely loses his shit whenever he's at a low point and someone acknowledges it out of sympathy. He has to convince himself he's actually doing great. Look at how he exploded at Howard at the courthouse when he was told "I'm sorry you're in pain". Tbh it may go back to how Chuck condescended towards him, trying to paint his opposition to Jimmy's law career as out of concern. As for Kim, the way she acted also made perfect sense. She's such a passionate, powerful figure, but seeing what embracing that led to, she's rejected all that and chosen a completely passionless life. I didn't even notice her deliberately avoiding making a decision, until you pointed it out, great catch. The interesting thing is that the phone conversation upset them both so much that it sparked some passion that had been missing in both their lives, in completely opposite ways. And they both confronted something they'd been avoiding: Kim took steps to deal with her guilt and right her wrongs, while Jimmy started slipping again.

I think Kim breaking down in the bus was a kind of delayed reaction to the trauma around Howard's death. She's finally unburdened herself to the police and Howard's wife, and now she's able to fully express all the emotion she has bottled up all these years. I think her experience with that event compared to Jimmy's is very different. She has tried to atone in many different ways ever since, though it wasn't always obvious, whereas Jimmy has been running from both his problems and whatever guilt he might feel over what he has done and the people he has hurt along the way. It all culminated with Kim ultimately turning herself in, while Jimmy continues to run.
@herecomesaregular84182 жыл бұрын
I'll also add that what you hear at the end is Jimmy trying to remember the code for signaling the Vacuum salesmen that he needs to disappear again, but I think that he's either going to find that the guy is no longer reachable, or he'll be rejected because he's fucked everything up too much.

I do not see this ending well for either of them, but at least she manned up and admitted her part. I can’t see Jimmy getting away, but I also can’t imagine him dying either. They spent a bit of time in 3 different scenes mentioning miracle whip and mayonnaise, probably not on accident. At the start they make a point of saying that miracle whip is close to the real thing, but not quite it. I think that's the writers doing a sort of double meaning for Kim's life after BB. Something's really off about Kim's new life. She doesn't seem to like it very much, like it's just a substitute for the kind of life she'd rather be living. Her new life is very unbefitting of a woman that's as smart and successful as she is. The metaphor continues, as she says at lunch that she switched to miracle whip. The other ladies say something like "oh, I use almond butter instead of peanut butter" and before it cuts it seems a few of them were going to also chime in. I don't think it would be overthinking it to say the writers are trying to show us this alternate life and the people in it are living drone-like lives where they substitute what they truly want for some healthier alternative that is boring and lacking flavor. Kim's boyfriend is boring and whitebread (and just says "yep" during some missionary lovemaking...). On the phone, Jimmy keeps asking her if she's awake and has a pulse. She says "I don't know what kind of life you've been living, but it can't be much" which mirrors her own situation, the same could be said of her. I feel like Kim hates her new life, but I'm not sure if the end of the show will see her continue with it as a sort of purgatory to pay for what she did in her past life, or if she will do something unexpected at the end like try to reunite with Jimmy, which could be the only thing to keep Jimmy from self-destructing any further... though even that would require him to get relocated again first, so I doubt it. Practically, this is probably the end for both of them interacting with each other.

That preview of Saul calling the vacuum guy. The actor died, and aside from recasting, I think it's a possibility that he's out of the game or a new business is there and won't understand what he's talking about. I think failing to get a new identity would be in line with the current storyline with Kim telling him to turn in, and Saul's final end. Edit: I thought about it and I realized it actually hasn't been very long since he called during the taxi scare. So it's probably not likely he'd stop within the couple months since he last called. The pillar falling was the second Ozymandias (the poem) reference in the last 2 episodes... in 6x11 Saul says to Jesse and Walt, are we going to be found in the desert 1000 years from now? That is in the poem... I met a traveller from an antique land, Who said-“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand, Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown, And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command, Tell that its sculptor well those passions read Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed; And on the pedestal, these words appear: My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings; Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair! Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away.

I don’t think Kim being indecisive is necessarily a conscious effort. The trauma over Howard is so deep that it’s made her live in fear of the consequences for her own decisions. When she was driving to that meeting Cliff set up for her and got a call from Jimmy about having to postpone “D-Day”, she made a very big choice that completely changed the direction of her life, changed Jimmy’s life, and ended Howard’s life, so for her the act of making literally _any_ decision feels dangerous and like the ultimate outcome is beyond her control. It makes a lot of sense, and I actually didn’t even take much note of her being indecisive at all until you pointed it out, but yeah. Good catch.

When I saw Kim's life in Florida (where I grew up) I thought, well, my Lady Macbeth suicide looks possible again! That was depressing as Hell. The whole episode was an exercise in Existential Dread. I assume Saul will be extradited back to New Mexico to stand trial and "Petty with a Prior" (Oakley?) will represent him. I hope they get the law right, and don't have Kim testify against Jimmy re: Howard, cos he can claim marital privilege even if they were divorced, for things that happened during their marriage. [Ordinarily, they won't prosecute on a confession alone with no corpus delicti. I mean, they normally do their homework, but it would be an easy mistake to make. After all, there's proving and there's knowing... .] That dipshit crashing the car made me laugh out loud. I love the way Marian stood up to Saul. I wonder why the last scene was in color.... I guess it was a visual flash back to BCS timeline. So, when was the vacuum dialog from? They are trying to confuse and trick us! * I wonder if they can use the shot-up Esteem as evidence tying Jimmy/Saul to Lalo & the Salamancas (beyond just being Lalo's lawyer) and use that as evidence linking him to Howard. Gene aka Jimmy aka Saul calls the Vaccum guy but finds out that he has died shortly after his last call with him! Which he has died in real life. Now Jimmy has no escape! He initially runs but finds out that Kim is now being tried for Howard's death. She was made an example of, since she was once an officer of the court. Jimmy can't believe that she actually turned herself in and blames himself for even suggesting it in the phone booth conversation. He comes to the realization that he is to blame for all of it, the skater twins, Chuck, Howard, Walt, and Kim. He can't allow Kim to take the fall. He recalls his conversation with Walt when he and Walt were waiting to be helped by the vacuum guy. How he told Walt that he should turn himself in and not leave Skylar and his family hanging out to dry. That Walt would be the Matt Dillon of the County lock up. He takes his own advice. He has to save Kim! So he makes a deal with the Feds that if turns himself in they have to drop all charges on Kim Wexler. Jimmy is sent to jail. Kim, tired of living a humdrum life and knows she loves Jimmy visits Jimmy and they continue to be in each other's life while Jimmy is behind bars. While behind bars Jimmy continues to do law work for other inmates and continues to run scams and has the correctional officers doing shady things for him. My guess is they find Howard’s body under the superlab. There’s the evidence the DA needs to pin Kim and Jimmy to the murder. The concept of evidence comes up a lot in this episode and I think that’s the subtle clue they’re planting for the finale.
@Jaker7882 жыл бұрын
They know Howard is dead, and finding his body is not evidence to pin her to his murder, especially since she didn't commit murder or manslaughter. They need another witness or evidence of their scheme, not his body, I think it'd be a small piece at best. If Saul corroborates the story after getting caught or turning himself in then there's enough. She even said the only witness would be Saul if he was alive. I doubt they'll find his body, they searched the lab and finished. The last steps the lab needed was a concrete slab foundation and permanent pillars set to support the building above, no reason to think bodies are buried 6ft under dirt and an additional couple ft of concrete. Most likely they tore the building down by now and possibly already built something new. The hole probably backfilled.

I'll be pretty surprised if they even know where to search, not mention finding the bodies

Jimmy's soul was gone when Kim walked out on him. Because of the consequences of her own plan. She is the real villain in this story. She has the nerve to sell out Jimmy after what she did and he only went along with it to make her happy.

Finally! I get to see a lawyer thinking. He's not a jerk for throwing the ball against the wall. Lawyers need to stop and think. People just don't seem to get that. This show is the only one to ever show a lawyer disciplinary hearing. Great episode.

I mean what did you expect it’s been years ! And I love Vince how he tries not to fake things. So he used what he has. And not go all CGI type.

Possible endings? Saul and Kim reunite and live happily ever after/kill themselves. Kim kills herself-Saul goes to jail. Or v.v. It'll all go down in that gaudy house we saw at the beginning.

I think it's either prison or suicide for Jimmy.

What's crazy is that Kim could have prevented everything that happened in Breaking Bad if she had said something different to Jesse about Saul. She breaks down crying because she feels responsible for what happened to Combo and for all the chaos that Saul and Walt and Jesse caused. I think she was thinking about that rainy night while she was raining down tears.

No, she crying over Howard and the guilt over his death all these years. She has nothing to do with what Saul does in BB she was long gone then. lol

Pretty much just watching you watch bits of the show. Might as well just give us the review.

My personal opinion is, that this episode was too much and too late. We already see Gene feel no remorse and breaking bad again, it was unnecessary to flesh it out three episodes. Furthermore we already guessed that Kim has a boring life. Show it 20 Minutes was unnecessary either. I was entertained from this episode,yes , but it was to slow for an final episode. Granite State, one single episode, was enough to wrap up Walters exile.

Better Call Saul is a much slower paced tv show. You gotta accept it. It hasn't changed since episode 1.
@KCohere332 жыл бұрын
Also, don’t compare this show to Breaking Bad all the time. It goes at its own pace. Just because you thought Granite State was enough to show Walt’s exile, which all he did was sit in a cabin so yeah, doesn’t mean that would work for this.
@exorides94002 жыл бұрын
@@guillaumegarneau4563 No, it has changed in the last seasons. In particular, the first half of the current season was extremely fast.
