I've watched all of the Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul tier lists so far and hearing this man actually say "sex" instead of "playing battleship" is so jarring it makes me question reality.

The writers' goal with BCS in general was to make people dread the day Saul Goodman shows up instead of Jimmy McGill, and with this season's finale they smashed it out of the park.

Yeah, it feels a lot like the story of Daedalus and Icarus. Daedalus actually killed his nephew in anger because his nephew is an amazing inventor. The parallel is that Chuck kills Jimmy Daedalus also goes into hiding because of that, just like Chuck stays in his house. Then he and Icarus, Icarus being what he thinks of Jimmy, as he always sees Saul, escape with wings. Icarus dies, just like Jimmy dies and becomes Saul, and Daedalus has to live with his failure. I let Jimmy die twice because Chuck killed him first when ne always put him down and after his death he killed him again to create Saul. A Tragedy that is straight from ancient greece

Putting aside the details in Chuck's letter that only Chuck would have known, my biggest argument against the idea that Kim wrote the letter *is* the fact that she has such a strong emotional reaction to it. She's hearing those words for the first time.

I would buy the idea that Howard wrote it, though. He probably wanted to make Jimmy feel better about the entire thing. It would be plausible since he's aware of their relationship, having been caught up in it and told by Chuck to not hire Jimmy and all. As for the handwriting, they worked together for years, he probably knows a lot of details about his handwriting, and could have access to all sorts of documents with Chuck's handwriting. Maybe I don't remember the episode but to me it's weird that Chuck would write a letter in the first place. Normally people just go and commit without thought, without really thinking of what they leave behind.

One thing i see a lot of people thinking when they watch the karaoke scene is how chuck takes the mic away from jimmy symbolising that he always hated him or whatever. I like the theory that jimmy knew he was bad at singing and chose a song chuck would know, and sang poorly so that when chuck comes on stage he can really shine and feel comfortable enough to let loose and have fun. Also i love your analysis of the scene as well, its a real heart warming gut punch

I know this is a little late to the party, but I think a lot of people misinterpret WHY Gus introduced himself to Werner. People have called it dumb or out of character or, in your case, simply jumping the gun. However, Gus’ detailed introduction is 100% intentional - it’s a threat. Not to Werner (at least not explicitly), but to Mike. Mike watched Gus introduce himself - this extremely private, careful, and ruthless man - and knew that if anything happens from here on out, Werner is dead. The introduction was explicitly to keep Mike in check, because Gus knows he gets soft over innocent people becoming involved, so this was the only real way to ensure that Mike would do what was necessary if the time came. At least, that’s what I took away from the scene. Great videos by the way, I can’t WAIT for season 5!

I definitely agree that Kim breakdown at the end of episode 3 and reaming Howard out earlier was in part due to her frustration that Jimmy has been so withdrawn as he handles Chuck’s death but I also think because she felt guilty that she was contemplating not giving Chuck’s letter to Jimmy to protect him from potential one last screw you letter from Chuck. She assumed the worst of Chuck and was shocked at being wrong and felt guilty. The emotions are just so high for everyone these past few days except for Jimmy who is repressing everything on the advice of Chuck telling him why feel guilty if you are never going to change and that he never really mattered to Chuck.

An interesting thing about both howard and jimmys guilt is that what killed chuck wasnt being fired it was chuck telling jimmy he never mattered to him People dont pick up on this but chuck actualyl doesnt beleive that his brother cant change. It sounds crazy but chuck is a liar he is so good at lying he evem convinces himself. Chuck parralells walter in charater as both are pretty similar as botg are narcissistic brilliant men. Chuck is a narcasist the 1216 thing prived it because chucks conclusion is only correct by coincidence not by any rational reasoning and jts clear it tears him up knowing he got the number wring before blaming jimmy. Chuck is lying to himself tha jimmy did it. Infact the EHS is a lie to convince himself to his wife as jf he cant go outside or call her he has an excuse for why he cant just talk to her about his problems anf feelings. He has lied to himself and convinced hjmself of having ehs because it denys responsibility. Chuck doesnt care if jimmy breaks the law he cares if he is a lawyer ge even basically says this in their last conversation. Jimmy was always the favorite whether its hid parrents or even chucks own wife. Jimmy is a lovable person chuck is an admirable lawyer. So chuck is by his actions like lying about his moms last words tells us he is jelous and petty and with the 1216 invident we know he is a narcasidt who lies to himself and needs to root it in somthing he can beleive and with that in context its really a justification for chuck to be just as bad as james mcgill pre saul goodman. Chucks last are a need to push jimmy into being saul. This isnt to say chuck doesnt love jimmy but he puts his selfishness over anythjng like for example suing HHM and costing hundreds of peoples jobs just because howard was concerned about chucks health. Hurting kim and ernie. Chucks ehs is a cause of feeling needed. He wants to have somevody to love him personally. But he in so many instances cant just say what he is thinking and makes excuses as to why like in winner takes it all his own wife on multiple occasions howard and more. It gets better in season 1 becaus he is getting closer to jimmy and this is how i know chuck wants to feel needed or loved because in one scene in season 1 chuck is unironicallh proud kf jimmy and he cant help himself but to unintentionally show it. Chucks lies for years lead jimmy to feel disillusioned he no longer wants to have a boss because a boss decides if you are reqarded and what is right and wrong. Jimmy only screwed up davis and maine because he didnt want it jn rhe first plaxe because after findjng out that 10 years of gaining chucks respect led to rejection and 2 weeks of being bros with marco led tk love jimmy bo longer wants can see the value in honest work Honest work is the long road to success and jimmy never learbed this becayde of chuck. Chuck pushes his bro down the path and pushes himself further away but in season 2 and 3 its clear despite everything jimmy still loves chuck and still cares for chuck. Chucks ehs gets worse by pushing his brother away its his subconscious screaming to stop but chuck keeps going because if he cant be the favorite brother or person he can be the better lawyer somthjng he doesnt need tk prove. Chuck still belives that jimmy will come back always. But then he loses his job and he is fine he is doibg well but then when given the ultimate chance to recover and maybe some day get his job back he pushes his brother off the edge because he wants to prove be is still the korally superior brother. However he slowly as he tears his house down he cimes tk the realization. He pushed his wife away and couldbt talk to her. He ruined his own job and freindship with howard over a vendetta and he beleives he pushed the person whk would of gone to the ends of the earth for him away forever and now he has to die knowing nobody loves him The thing is chuck always said he would get better but doesnt do anything for years. Jimmy in the span of a decade quit conning said goodbye to a life long freind to commit tk a honest life moved away. Got a job found love passed the bar a uniceraal test chuck also took to become a lawyer and took care of his brother whilr being poor and chuck still says jimmy cant change becaus he never gave the same pqvience twards jimmy because he didbt want to. Chucks self destructive behsvior wouldnt allowing it

Great video, Mr Rice! I do have one small complaint/question. At around 46:18, you said Kim and Jimmy were "having hot steamy sax" or something. I don't know what that is, but it looked to me like they were playing battleship. I didn't see a single saxophone. Thank you, Mr Rice!
