Good idea but you didn't test it with water pressure

I would not think that would be a strong enough mechanical connection to stand up to the twisting it will see when connected to a sprayer or a faucet.

What a great idea. Is it still working? Do it leak at all? I was thinking of using this solution to make custom length garden hoses for irrigation.

The brass part is to smooth. If I leave the hose turned on, the next morning, it will have popped off. If the barbs on the brass end, bit in a little, it would work good.

@@tubejim101 In other words, it doesn't work. Needs more clamping force. Have you tried it a combination of the shrink tube and a clamp?

Put this sleeve on a barbed brass fitting and its not goin anywhere. I'm in the shrink film biz 40 yrs, stuff has much greater clamping force than you'd think. The adhesive on the E tape might eventually cause a fail as it breaks down, maybe not. I wouldn't use it.

Cool fix but I found a better product in Walmart or Home Depot. Its made by Expert Gardner and called a Push-fit Male/Female hose mender for $2.73 All you have to do is to cut the hose correctly where needed and slide the mender piece in. No other tools required. They also have a coupler version in case the leak is too far along the length of the hose and you don't want to end up with a shorter hose. This last one may not be too good of a solution if you have the hose inside a reel, because it may not reel-up perfectly

These are insanely expensive ($10 each?!), and not worth it for garden hose repair
