If you haven't already figured it out yet, within the mod settings for the falling trees mod you can increase the max limit for cutting down those larger trees. I've changed mine from 100 to 200 blocks, just enough to deal with the massive amounts of connected cherry trees around my town without cutting down the whole forest at once.

The townhall sign in the base is a recomendation for the fortress style buildings. The town hall is the size of 4 chunks and all buildings in that style uses sizes such as 16x16 and 8X16 to fit into chunks. if you are not using that style you do not need to worry about that sign.
@Wulferic12 жыл бұрын
Came here to say this exact thing, if you're not using Fortress style buildings, ignore the sign and go nuts! :D
@sofiadragon65202 жыл бұрын
It is nice to help align buildings if you use the chunks. The building wand tool shows the border of the town and it highlights the chunk you are in on that perimeter (it's hard to explain in text, but when you see it you'll know.) This can help if you want to keep things in a line from a distance, as you can spot the chunk border.

Remember to build a guard tower every 2-3 buildings, especially when your village is surrounded by trees that allow for monster spawns. Try to change tree-cutting mod max limit to 150 or 200. It tries to make it "real life-ish"- it tries to simulate how whole tree falls down after being cut so I don't see any problem to change it so it will work with other mod trees.

Something I learned late in my own colony was that having a lot of guards is a must. I recommend about 1/4 of all citizens.

I don't know if you know this but bamboo is used to craft scaffolding. You can climb through them like ladders and easily stack them upwards by right clicking on one, no need to do it one by one like a nerd pole, and also break all of them with a single hit if you hit the bottom one. I don't know if this modpack has alternatives so they may come in handy.

For those curious about why the F3+G tip is so important, it has nothing to do with MineColonies directly. It's more rooted in the Fortress-style pack, which has most of the buildings getting worked into the finished colony, making it look like a fantasy castle with rail networks added into the bases of the walls and the barracks doubling as the front gate in the finished build. It's to the point where the buildings interlock like a mix of puzzle pieces and cars in a passenger train. Had Sjin picked the Medieval Oak-style supply camp, I doubt that it would have included the tip. Keep in mind that other style packs, like Jungle Treehouse and Arcology, are also predicated on the boundaries of the buildings touching (Arcology has you building the colony as a self-contained nation in a single structure, and Jungle Treehouse relies on sky bridge structures that don't ever touch the ground to let the player and the colonists get around without touching the ground most of the time), but for others like Caladonia, MineColonies default, and the Medieval packs all will allow you to put buildings as far apart as you want, just so long as they're both within the boundaries (outlined on your minimap if you've added one in your modpack) of your colony.

Bulls and cows are just the male and female of the same species. They have roughly the same top speed, around 30 miles per hour, or 48km per hour. He knows that from the previous series, Feed the Bees, but having more than 1 builder just takes up space honestly. They don't take that long to build nor are you typically building so much at once that you need extra builders. The better your builders stats and level the faster he/she builds anyway. So instead of multiples just upgrade their hut and tools.

Personally I don't like DoF (Depth of Field) because it's not how our eyes actually work. When you're looking at something everything else isn't blurred. So typically I turn it off in games along with motion blur for the same reason. What I'd recommend is using a slightly higher FoV (Field of View) Like 80-90 usually is good, but depends on the game.

Just wanna say this now, for minecolonies you might wanna just start hording as much building material as you can depending the type of colony you're building. As you progress it does start getting more resource heavy but eventually you'll get to a point where some things will become self sufficient. For example, for food: A fisherman and a restaurant could make your colony self sufficient for food. Same with a baker and a farmer growing wheat. Also, with some colonists and their jobs, you're going to have to manually teach them recipes. That means for the carpenter, you're going to have to teach them every way to use wood....and probably will have to teach them every type of wood in the game.
