Basing makes a huge difference when it comes to the finish of a miniature, possibly more so than the quality of the paintwork on the mini itself. more often than not I use Vallejo brown earth with some pumice mixed in, and sit drying clay when I need to give it shape. I find it works really well at Battletech scale, as the brown earth has a smaller particle size.

great tutorial. I've been using these with pigments to add depth. Trying to get better.

Haha I wish I had a step by step video but I've posted the tutorials on how I did the white, and how I do the freehand details. I haven't really tackled greenstuff and modding but it's hard to keep that in a video format that isn't boring.

Is there a way for you to explain how the base of that catapult was made? Specially the those craters. I'm trying to sort of create a lunar-like type of terrain. Any pointers are appreciated!

The very first video I made for the channel covered this exact process. That being said, it was shot vertical, sound is bad, and resolution is low. Perhaps it needs an update, but in the mean time, here's the video link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWrdfJumnayhqcU

How did you make the missiles and smoke plumes on the Catapult!!??
@CamoSpecsOnline5 жыл бұрын
Wire inserted into the back of 1: 285 modern aircraft weapon assortment air-to-air missiles from GHQ then greenstuff textured around the wire to get the smoke plumes.

Is the main website no longer maintained?
@CamoSpecsOnline5 жыл бұрын
Yes and no...There's a new website being slowly put together by the team and as with all things done on a volunteer basis, it's taking time. The current CSO page doesn't get updated but is still hosted until we get the next iteration complete.

That is good to know when I didn't see an update on it in the past year i had feared the worst. especially since some of the written articles were no longer viewable.@@CamoSpecsOnline

I Use Superglue and baking soda for sand , OR for your first layer then everything else will stick to this. Put down Superglue then sprinkle baking powder over and let dry. Love your videos 📹 ❤

Thanks for the great tip. Bakingsoda sits in a jar at my hobby desk and works for so many things.

Hey I have the grey pumice and it is not drying rock hard like it said it would. Its spongey as hell? What's up with that/ can it be fixed?
@CamoSpecsOnline4 жыл бұрын
I have Vallejo White Pumice and the label doesn't mention anything about drying rock hard. It does remain flexible but since it's water based basing material I'm willing to bet you could mix in a bit of PVA glue and that should harden it a bit.

Why not add your base paint to the texture paste and skip having to paint it later?
@CamoSpecsOnline5 жыл бұрын
Perfectly acceptable but I think unpainted elements look a bit off next to painted ones. That being said I vary the base color of the filler with browns and reds to help with the intended base colors. It allows a wash and or dry brush layers to go that much further to enhance the finished look. I have a couple containers of different base colors to save time.

Side note, Love that ridiculous old Mackie sculpt. A shame it's impossible to find these days.

That MFUK Mackie is super rare. I still have one of my own to paint.
