Do yourself a favor and get some rubber matting on the trailer floor and a few bags of barn calcite. Calcite for traction and to put on the ground where you unload to give better footing for your animals.

Good evening Ryan, thank you for the video, please why not put a little straw down so that the cows wouldn't slip on the frozen ground!! Because if there was a broken leg!!! It would sure be worse. 👍😎🇬🇧.
@deanvantonder12785 жыл бұрын
You should throw some crusher stone down it will help with keeping the mud a bit lower and dust your cattle will also not be sliding around that much and if you can get hold of conveyor belt strips throw that down in your trailer keep the cattle from falling around and sliding during transport
@rogerwilson93615 жыл бұрын
Travis is the hero of this video would slide up for the team Ryan those are some nice looking cows and heifers.

Great looking group, Ryan. I hope you go over the numbers in terms of the increased quantities of hay, feed corn, and fodder that you'll need to keep them happy and healthy and the acreage of alfalfa necessary to supply that. Nice investment strategy!

I keep several pails of pea gravel handy in winter, rather than salt. I want traction, not melting. The rock salt I keep separate for melting the brick walks and the steps. I don't like using too-much salt since the snow/ice doesn't usually last that long, ...but my walk at the front door is in shadow on the north-side of the house and NEVER gets any Sun.
@brianrutberford64075 жыл бұрын
You should have a bag of kitty litter .it works great if you need traction on ice.8 always carried a 50 pound bag in my semi in the winter

They are for tracking cattle. It is a nation wide system, every state has its own number. Every cow that goes through a sale barn gets one.
@Kntryhart5 жыл бұрын
3:00 Just a suggestion...I use cat litter instead of salt. Cat litter provides excellent traction. The issue I have with salt is that it simply burns its way south only to refreeze during the night which, turns into a highly polished surface the next day!
@RKHarm245 жыл бұрын
You nade good choices on purchases looks like. Calm like you like them. Thought surely Travis would slip the red head in the trailer.

I agree with beef cattle, grain prices aren't going anywhere unless there is a drought or flood. It would be nice to have that small grain cart with an auger that your seed rep uses to haul feed with instead of buckets. All it would take is a nasty fall to put you in medical debt. Also I know you don't like to lease vehicles but it could be a one time thing to get the skidsteer without becoming over extended. Even if you own something you may not get what it's worth in a down market and with a lease you'd be getting a new vehicle with a warranty.
