After two Amarok I switched to buy a Wildtrak X. I'll see a few years from now if it was the right decision to go for the looks.

When it reach 100,000 miles on the clock , ranger starts disturbing funny sounds from engine and gearbox especially on automatic transmission, every month you go to repair

Fun fact- vw amarok sales are at an all time low in australia, people are not rushing to buy them, and the reason they partnered with ford was to cut costs… when companies cut costs it reflects in quality. 👍🏼

Clone Ranger. If they used the Ranger as a base but kept the TDI V6 and ZF HP8 or what ever its called from the old Amarok. Used the ranger tub , dumped the gawdy gear selector and put in decent cup holders near the air vents (Hilux type). I would be in. That Lion V6 is suspect and not up for tuning with that 3 main bearing compromise. The 10 speed is not as good as the ZF as in 8sp in the old Amarok IMO.

The TDi V6 is not all it’s cracked up to be and has various problems, mostly to do with the timing chains and their position at the back of the engine. The Ford 10 speed automatic is a better unit than the ZF 8 speed in terms of how it shifts and the short shifter is almost a work of genius. Personally I would avoid the V6 and get the twin turbo 2.0 which has over 200hp and 500Nm torque, which is more than enough for this kind of pickup and a fantastically economical unit. Mine does 34mpg Imperial unladen on nasty up and down Welsh roads. Just come back from 5 hours driving at 35mpg. This is 5mpg better than the best I ever got from my Audi Q7 [the 3.0 V6 diesel as fitted to old Amarok] or Range Rover diesel [04 model 3.0 BMW straight 6]

After 1 month and 1.9k on the clock my new amaros has broken down. Major electronics issues

The worst bit is it’s the ecu and it’s gonna take about 3 months to get hold of. All parts are being used in manufacturing rather than any spares

Better than a Ford Ranger? It is a Ford collaboration vehicle.
