This just sent me spiraling down a rabbit hole. Wood, canvas, slate, plastic.... all the lovely options. For someone that likes to build, the options this created in my mind is wonderful. I mean a light box is not going to help me get my sketch on paper to be visible enough on a table. Transfer paper can be problematic too. Or being able to get wood panels for box tops or doors and transfer to the surface.... Heck, binders that don't have the clear sleeve on the front even... I know what will keep spinning in my head when I can't sleep tonight. 😅

I got one of these for Christmas. I do have a light board, but I found I was hardly using it, because I still had to physically print out the picture on paper, in order to then trace it using the light board. Basically wasting paper. So I’m looking forward to using this. Ps. The colours you used on that painting are amazing, I wish I were that talented.
@Rockymtnbloom5 жыл бұрын
I just got this yesterday. I am finding it very helpful to transfer drawings to 300# watercolor paper in detail (paper is too thick for my light table). I have only three semi-complaints: Instructions are vague, they are remedying this. They need better app use and set up instructions. Size: the largest image using the grid options is about 12x16 inches. (They could resolve by adding an additional grid...hint easy software update!). Lastly, the alignment of pencil tip to image and angle you must work at makes the eyes and neck tired quicker, compared to tracing with a light box. One eye closed does help, but is tiring. However I really do like the product and wish to remind people that you are not just paying for the materials, you are also paying for product development, support and all the behind the scenes stuff that makes a successful product, patent process and shipping. I've paid as much for a jar of useless face wrinkle cream....several in fact, but we won't go there. 😉 By the way I'm not paid by them. Just got mine yesterday. I received live support today (Sunday) from a request yesterday afternoon (my question was about set up).

This is a neat idea. A bit costly for the item, but overall, with time saved in scetching, and wasted paper using a copy machine, and downloading set-up time, I guess it pays back on itself over time. I do beadwork images in native, and country designs in beadwork, and this would help me save a lot of time drawing out my first images. I have a light board projector, where once I make a first design, I can place the image on the light board projector, and make the image as large and small as I wish it to be at another location my paper sketch is placed. Closer I have the paper, the smaller the image, while farther away, the lager the image. When you were in shool years ago, a teacher would project an image, or written lesson (using this same type of machine) on a blackboard. It's just a matter of making sure, your body doesn't hide the lines you wish to draw on the image paper. You have to stay out of the projector's light path when drawing, and the room must be much darker for the projected image to be seen clearly on the paper you wish the image to be drawn on. Between the two items I have mentioned, they work great. The small iPod image is made first with this item shown, then the photo projector can make the drawn image any size larger I wish to make it on larger pieces of paper. From there, I just grid overlay on the finished piece to represent all the beads I will use to make the beadwork. design I wish to make. I no-longer need my printer to do the same job, that takes much longer to do, at a much higher cost of both paper, and printer ink, as well as set-up time involved. It cuts my designing time down by 2/3rds, and I end up with a great end product image in beadwork, to transfer over to clothing, or leather jackets. I also have a laptop, with a swinging screen, and I will be making another small wooden stand that can sit in front of my computer screen, and take any image off that screen, using the same method, and principle, to transfer image to paper, which means I get a larger image on the first layout for what I wish to do in beadwork, Sure saves me a lot of time....

Thanks for sharing, it was nice to see the many sizes of example copies. I would really love to see how this works on very dark papers, and if it would be hard to view the mirror surface image with black paper behind it. If I copy a pencil sketch currently I use a lightbox or transfer paper for my paintings, but this can be tricky on dark papers so I could see this product being good for that or canvas.
@Kattvalk5 жыл бұрын
Maybe if you invert the colors so the sketch lines gets white, maybe it could work? I’m gonna try it

did you discover a solution to this ? this is actually the reason im looking into the tool because i work with dark papers
@KimberlyCrick2 жыл бұрын
@@hugh_dancy If I use a bright light over my art I can usually see pencil or graphite transfer paper lines, but when working with black paper I usually just use white transfer paper now. Saral transfer paper is a nice way to trace drawings onto black paper and make the lines nice and white, but there's probably other brands of white transfer paper that work similarly if that brand is hard to get near you.

$50? Please... Just buy yourself a used projector on CL or FB Marketplace. You can easily get one, and use it for large paintings/sketches/...etc. Plus, you can watch movies! :) If you only intend to draw 3 inch cats, you should be able to make one of these. Just reduce the opacity of a piece of flexi glass, use something to set it to the right angle (scrunched tinfoil should work), and download an app which will distort the image so that the reflection is squared. Bet you could do it for under $5!

I went to several websites where they show pictures of what the stands look like.. where you put your phone or tablet on.. I made mind out of heavy duty corrugated cardboard! After several attempts I made one that is stable and does well ...I can put my 10" iPad on it..... And it only cost me $1.10 for the " mirror" at the Dollar Tree store........

@katrinthorsdottir75145 жыл бұрын
Tracing helps you get the drawing movements into muscle memory. As for why draw on a tablet then transfer it, maybe you want to do a painting, so you rough out your idea on your tablet. Once you have it all planed out, you want to transfer it to the canvas so you can paint it. Sometimes that's hard to do just freestyling it.
@Kattvalk5 жыл бұрын
Did you even watch the video? 😉😸 it’s a way to transfer a small sketch to a bigger surface, among other things. You can make a sketch on your tablet or a separate piece of paper and then trace it over to a canvas, for example

It’s good for if you make a sketch and you don’t want to ruin it so you can transfer it to another paper in different sizes and like she said you can transfer an image onto thicker papers and canvas(which isn’t very possible with a light board) It’s pretty helpful
