Better than florescent? Should you buy these?

Just got these SPIDER FARMER sf600 full spectrum grow lights - I recently sowed a wide variety of cactus and succulent seeds under them. Everything from Copiapoa dealbata to Conopytum taylorianum to Aloe melanacantha and a ton more varieties of genera. I first tested out the igrowtek led from amazon and while it did work these sf600 are def a much more powerful light and it was pretty obvious the moment I turned them on. I mean its like day time coming off the shelves where I have them. I So far im real liking these - prob going to get another one and the shelving unit for them too.

These are gonna be great - just as bright as the old florescent t5 I had previously but there is no heat and way less energy used by them. 10 out of 10 so far.

Nice video, Spider Farmer makes great lights. Just want to touch on a point for anyone interested in growing plants under lights. Using foot candles/lumens as a light intensity measurement for plants is outdated and an inaccurate way to measure how much light your plants are getting. If you want to be more scientifically accurate, plants care about PAR and PPFD (and DLI). This is the measurement of light usable by plants. Most grow lights will share the PPFD data, for instance this light reports 300PPFD at 16". Lumens and using phone apps to measure PAR can work to give you a reference point though so if it works it works...I highly recommend reading more about PAR, it is cool stuff!

I use these too! My seedlings are going nuts! Pretty sure I have the same heat mats as well. I found that I needed to use shade cloth initially. After two months I harden off, and after 3-4 months, I pull the shade cloths

what is that device that monitors "candle per square foot" ? i would like to test my VSX1600 Full Spectrum LED Grow Light 160W has 4 dimmable modes which i use at its lowest setting hopefully works. Also what is your desired temp with heat pad and or soil temp?

I've only grown zone four yucca from seed, how do you tell under lights that a cactus seedling is stressing from being over lit? I understand etiolation as a plant visually stretching because it's not getting enough, please explain

I have 4 of these, good for the money, seem to stress my mamms before anyone else. Appreciate any thoughts on distance from lights for more mature plants, I'm at like 8-12.

Yep. These are the bomb. Great price point too. About $110-130 here in Australia. I keep my lights somewhere around 14-18” above the plants and sometimes use large sheets of tissue paper or something else to give a little protection to smaller seedlings from the light. They’re strong lights for the $$$

If you're trying another, I love my florawave lights! They're designed for carnivorous plants and do quite well for me.

I literally got this exact light last week for indoor cactus seedlings, it's super bright! I had to adjust the shelf because I was worried it was too much. So far they seem happy!

This fall I bare rooted my Dudleya lanceolata yellow flower form and forgot about it sitting in the pit of another plant. The succulent roots started growing two new plants on it 👍🏻

Keep your eyes peeled on their eBay shop mate, they have sales from time to time. I got one for 110 and another for 130. The SF300 is another good one too, a bit smaller than this one
