Freddie was a lyrical genius such a beautiful soul lost to soon

In the lap of the Gods AND Seven Seas of Rhye! I love that piano intro! I think they revised it cause Freddie was trying to write another audience participation song, hence the "whoa la la la" bit. Please do Take My Breath Away live. Just Freddie and a piano. Stripped down before it was fully finished and recorded. Haunting!

The Wembley concert is amazing. A lot of audience participation. And this medley follows the concert opener of ONE VISION/TIE YOUR MOTHER DOWN. So you can imagine how crazy the crowd got. After IN THE LAP OF THE GODS/SEVEN SEAS OF RHYE is the song TEAR IT UP (all three songs were in a medley). After the medley is ITS A KIND OF MAGIC. Awesome!!

Like everyone says In The Lap Of The Gods and In The Lap Of The Gods Revisited are 2 different songs. Not the opening song. They came on stage to One Vision intro tape & sang Tie Your Mother Down. This short medley then followed.

Great reaction, David 🤩 I think they were having fun here, and of course, Freddie has a much stronger and deep raw voice here. I really like them both... Well, I like all of their songs and performances.

I think it's best to treat them as two separate songs. I too prefer the earlier version in which Roger's falsetto and Freddie's voice complement each other beautifully- and the instrumentation is wonderful too. But like you said, this revisited version grows on you. I especially like the opening lyrics.

This is “In the Lap of the Gods revisited. I was typing that while you said it, LOL. I prefer the other version, too 🤗 Although this one at Wembley is fun! Thanks for doing “Who Wants to Live Forever” the other day for me & Buddha ❤️🐾🐾🙏🏻 A good Roger song is “The Loser in the End” with Queen or “Old Friends” during his solo career (dedicated to Freddie) 🥰

I LOVE Queen! Thanks for your reactions! @ Rainbow was indeed wonderful, and I miss the second verse, LOL, on the revisited at Wembley, but I love this medley! He is so strong for the audience, who pay it forward when they join the chorus... Too bad you didn't realize "Tear it Up" was the third song in this medley - sweet!

It’s a totally different song to the one you reacted to at the Rainbow. They do both at the Rainbow. This is a different song. Both are on the album Sheer Heart attack. Just to clear up any confusion.

They are two different songs: In the Lap of the Gods (track 7 from Sheer Heart Attack album) and In the Lap of the Gods... Revisited (track 13 from the album Sheer Heart Attack). And in this video are two different song too: In the Lap of the Gods... Revisited and Seven Seas of Rhye (from the album Queen II).

I'm with you, I prefer the Rainbow version too, but then I prefer the revisited one at Hammersmith over this one even though I think the whole Wembley concert was amazing. I can see a few people have requested You Take My Breath Away Live at Hyde Park, so I'm adding my voice to that also. It's just Freddie and the piano, pared right back compared to the studio version which actually came later. So beautiful, it will literally Take Your Breath Away. It was a free concert they put on to say thankyou to the fans, and 100,000 people turned up.

70s Queen will always beat out 80s Queen in my personal preference. But they are both great. Everyone says hes more powerful in this performance but I like the subtlety, intimacy, nuance of is voice in the 70s. It was not all just blow them away back then. Plus i have a thing for long hair.

This is actually the revisited version - that’s the official name of the song (In the Lap of the Gods - revisited). The Rainbow upload is mislabeled. There’s not really an original and a remake, as they’re both on the same album so came out together - they’re sort of sandwiched, on the album, from back in the time when a whole album flowed together. ☺️ I love the Rainbow performance too though!
