It's crazy how people go to Bachmann so often for Thomas models and not TOMIX, definitely a underrated company.
@DansTrainRoomАй бұрын
I think it's a little difficult for people to get TOMIX because the models are all discontinued now. They're definitely amazing though. Thanks for your comment!
@DolgochАй бұрын
@@DansTrainRoom Even crazier that such a great line got discontinued, might pick a TOMIX model up myself after this video (if I can find one for a good price).
@1471SirFrederickBanburyАй бұрын
the Tomix stuff is scaled to TT3 which means in order to run them with other trains/wagons/brands is to regauge it to TT3, or you would have to run only Tomix stuff
@DansTrainRoomАй бұрын
@1471SirFrederickBanbury You can run them with anything as long as you're fine with it looking a little weird

Henry’s probably my favorite Tomix model but James is definitely a close second! Totally not biased or anything haha nice review, looking forward to seeing more as always!

Thanks again! Henry is definitely my favorite too. I hope Bachmann's Gordon will be just as amazing!
@WillSchofe89029 күн бұрын
Amazing video man! I love the Tomix models so much. Ascetically they run miles around the Bachmann stuff. However i still prefer Bachmann's offerings due to their INCREDIBLE performance. The Tomix Thomas and James that i had both ran awfully and i ended up getting rid of them. Such a shame because they are stunning models!
@DansTrainRoom29 күн бұрын
Thanks! If you had a poor running James and Thomas, they were probably the original versions. If you can find the updated versions, they run much better! The Bachmann ones are the best running n scale models I've seen, non Thomas models included.

A model exhibition I went to had the original Thomas, james, and Henry, the prices were quite steep, but I didn’t buy them as I already have basically everything, cool seeing them though

@ I bought the full set of engines and rolling stock (minus the individual mail car) from a member at my model club for £130

Years back, i bought two sets of Annie snd Clarabelle and painted them red for branchline coaches. Found them more fitting for little layouts behind James. The extra trucks went to Percy's consit with a custom made brakevan made by splicing two n scale br brakes for the extra height.

Do you have any recommendations on finding Tomix engines such as Percy and Henry for someone in the uk?
@DansTrainRoomАй бұрын
You can always find them on Ebay, but the prices are insane. I found most of mine at used model train stores in Japan for much better prices, but of course you have to go to Japan to do that. If you can't do that, keep searching for them regularly on sites like Ebay. Eventually you might get lucky with a low price!

plastic wheels are bad because they slosh the dirt around the track. That's particularly bad with DC as it attracts dirt where as the AC used in DCC repels dirt.

Definitely avoid the CGI relaunch of the Tomix line. They run a lot rougher and feel very flimsy compared to the early 2000s and older Tomix Thomas models.

@DansTrainRoom19 күн бұрын
That is terrible. Did you get it directly from Tomix or somewhere else? I got mine from an old man running a little private train layout near Himeji Castle lol. He said the guy who gave it to him only ever used it once, so it's basically brand new condition.
