Hey Sam, for anyone who hasn't used a steam washer / cleaner it's day and night difference from a straight pressure washer. But, everyone saw the potential downside of steam. Thank Goodness you weren't trapped underneath when the hose broke.

Oh those "do-it-yourself" hydraulic hose fittings bring back some unhappy memories ! Back in 1980 I was running a log truck up in Ossipee, N.H., and it seemed that every time I got way in the woods a line would blow, and usually when it's freezing cold ! Cutting that steel braid with a hacksaw is always fun, and screwing it together with a couple of adjustable wrenches. Of course air valves would freeze up while you were loading, so you had to try to find some dry leaves and small sticks to build a fire under the valves, being careful not to set the truck ablaze due to all the hydraulic oil soaking the entire underside. Fun times for sure !!

Nice to see you had no problems putting the cylinder back, on your own Sam, it is just a matter of keeping the cylinder parallel to the bore and it goes in as easy as you found. Last one I had to do was 35 yrs ago so nice to see a youngster doing it for himself! Well done, as to all the other work you have done, well it was as expected of your skill level, NICE. I love watching you and Matt working together, two younger men who want to keep this old stuff going, and are doing a fine job of it, as they learn and transfer each learnt skill to another project! Hope you and your's have a Merry Christmas & Happy new Year, and look forward to seeing you in the new year!

Worked in a municipal garage in michigan, we use to make all our hoses using the same method, but we used a Ridged pipe threading machine to hold the hose while threading the new end on it, handy tool to have available when equipment was out plowing snow on a Sunday night and breaks or blew a hose.

27:44 if you do two complete laps instead of one when slinging it will stay in place a lot better and not slide as easy. We use it on pipes, cable etc when pulling and its surprising how much difference it makes. You can use it with a sling on a rope as well. If you do three laps thats what climbers call a prusik knot.
