I’m kinda obsessed with this song and have been brainstorming. Steve would be from The far future of Minecraft, having more exaggerated and fluent animations, while Alex would be from 1.8, having more simplistic animations. Steve would have a netherite sword, Alex would have a diamond sword. Alex‘s animations would be sword block for left and right, crouching for down, and jump plus attack for up. Story would be that Steve wants Alex to be grateful for what she had and appreciate the beauty of Minecraft, since in his timeline, Mojang lost their spark of creativity.

here are the visuals i like to imagine: during the song, the entire world of minecraft is breaking down, distorting and glitching. the world flows in a wave-like way similar to the acid shaders for optifine. blocks and other stuff switches textures, the switching becomes more frequent as the song progresses. the distortion and glitching of the world also increase. the song takes place on a tall hill with steve standing on an unfinished bridge, while alex stands near the house on the hill. as for the story, perhaps steve is representative of the tinted lens we see things through with nostalgia. dampening our enjoyment of current media because we long for a time when things were simple. alex represents adaptation to a new era, and progression to a new state of being, accepting change and persevering through hardship.

alex is the player, starting a world and steve was her friend but while alex can exit the dream whenever, stee is in eternal limbo, alex assumed he was gone forever after so long of not seeing him thinking on he had moved onto bigger and better things, but hes just been off in other chunks, even travelling to world border by foot to escape his cubic purgatory but it was never enough to set him free, so in a last ditch effort he ambushes alex and tries to convice her to delete the world so he can finally rest, because while each mc day is only twenty minutes for alex, each day has been as long as a real day for steve and while at first living in mc no longer having to deal with real life was great, now hes done everything there is to do, and now he only wishes for alex to finally remove the world setting him free, but alex has grown far too attached to finally delete the world, therefore they must have a final confrontation.
