A better word was spoken, oh I know it was nothing but the "blood". The layout of the song is a bit jumbled (probably cos they needed it to rhyme) but I'm sure that's what they mean :)

It refers to the verses in Hebrews 12 where the New Testament Church are being taught that the new mediator between sinful humankind and God, the Father i.e. Jesus Christ is better than the Old Testament sacrifice of the blood of goats and bulls. The song explains that nothing can reconcile us better than the shed blood of Jesus Christ who died on the cross at calvary and was raised again, having defeated death and torn the veil between God and man once and for all through his shed blood. Hebrews 12:24 says that, "...Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel." (Abel was the brother of Cain, the sons of Adam and Eve who was murdered by his brother because he offered God a more favourable sacrifice. In Genesis 4, God told Cain that his brother's blood was calling for vengeance before God had to banish him for his sin.) That vengeance against death was attained by the blood of Jesus which speaks a better word.
