I've met Jonathan Coulton the couple of times he's been in the Bay Area, and we've communicated via email about the videos and some other projects, but I wouldn't say we're friends. I just totally dig his music and love doing whatever I can to help spread the word.

Yeah, it's a tough line to walk. There's only so much you can get across to the viewer with the WoW models, so if you go too subtle you run the risk of people not being able to figure out what you're trying to say. Plus, I'm going for comedy, so naked butts and stuff have to be in there somewhere. ;)

So i wonder if the singer (the character in the song, not joco) knows what's going on and is in denial, or if he's just not all that smart. Betty certainly doesn't seem to have a high opinion of him. She's obviously trying to spite him as much as possible. But then, why did she get with him in the first place? Perhaps she found his naivety charming at one point but over time that turned to resentment? Or perhaps it was an arranged marriage? The very first line of the chorus is very telling "things are getting better for betty and me" seems to heavily imply that things were not going well before, which almost certainly relates to our current cucking conundrum. The MC seems to think very highly of betty and love her a lot though, which makes me think it's one-sided hatred/disdain from betty to the MC, and that's been the crux of the problem from the beginning. Perhaps it's a matter of energy levels, "and for god sakes would you turn that TV down" may imply that mc was happy with a relationship where neither party put in very much effort or energy, where betty wanted a high-input relationship, the underwear and wine presents from dr. martin might suggest she was starved for attention she wasn't getting from mc, but then, she wouldn't have wanted it anyway from the way she seem to despise every part of him, though that may have just been her way of trying to hurt him coming from her resentment of his lack of attention to her.
