I decided I was too punk rock to live at home when I was 16; spectral walrus Cab Calloway made short work of that.
@KacperSobierajVargskeletor54212 сағат бұрын
I wasn’t scared of no spectral walrus, I always remain part of the Punk Subculture, and thus as a duty of being so Punk Rock, me and my friends went to fight The Evil Spectral Walrus Cab Calloway, who was the one fought by many, and was the one who literally made Betty Boop so scared she ran back home to her ABUSIVE PARENTS (bad choice there, Betty Boop), and was hated for scaring and threatening Betty ever since, ‘cuz LITERAL DEATH THREATS AND BLACKMAIL WON’T GET YOU FAR, and thus, The Spectral Walrus Demon was beaten again and again by every hero that could defeat him and completely destroy his violent plans as well as keep him from KILLING any more victims. Me and my Punk Rocker Friends celebrated the 56th defeat of that demon creature, and my parents finally understood me, making them immune to brainwashing and propaganda.

No wonder this was put as number 20 on the 50 greatest cartoons of all time. It's got jazz, it's got bizarre visuals, it's got Cab Calloway as a walrus singing Minnie the Moocher. How can no one get intrigued by it all?
@jfilesgraphics9 жыл бұрын
They used a method of animation called "Rotoscoping" to similate Cab Calloway's moves. At the time, it was cutting edge.

You can see the similiarity between Bimbo and Betty, and it shows how the odd shape of Betty's head came from the fact that she was also originally drawn as a dog.

Coming from a black community, i can assure you when white people come we REALLY don't give a fuck, i've walked into all latino communities and no, FYI they arent hostile, they welcomed me with open arms and were genuinely interested in me as a person not me as a black female. Maybe before you speak for entire ETHNICITY'S (there is no such thing as "race" outside of the human race), you could stand to do a little research. And you people fail to realize because you're not critically thinking when you read, should back to college for that btw (or if you're in high school, pay more attention), i'm talking about BACK THEN, back in the 20's and 40's and 50's and so on.

***** PLEASE! Speak the truth! #amen people of color see white people in their neighborhood and they keep goin about their business. White people see people of color in THEIR neighborhood and suddenly it's "LOCK YOUR CARS AND YOUR DOORS!" "GET THE CHILDREN INSIDE" "HONEY GET YOUR 12 GAUGE!!" and we get watched until we leave and hopefully never go back. And God forbid one of us move into their neighborhoods.

Absolutely AMAZING!! 1932, completely ahead of its time! That´s not only a beautiful piece of art work, but also a social critic, a kind of reflection and very insightful view on family dysfunction which is very familiar for us now, but very hidden and taboo at that time. So many thanks for sharing!

It's weird to us for sure. Comes from a by-gone era where society was far different than today. Only my grandparents (who are deceased) and great grandparents were there to witness it. I heard that it was a very liberal era, however where individuality, mind-expanding drug use, etc was encouraged.
