I loved Joel in shows, but his interviews suck. Why ask him anything when every answer he gives is pointless filler trying to be funny? People watch interviews to learn more about people, and Joel just teaches them to stop trying. Some sarcasm is charming, nothing but sarcasm is a waste of time listening to.

But the joke here was that he was referencing the fact that Community was often confused with Parks and Rec back in the day because Parks & Rec was the more popular show. He and other Community cast members have said multiple times in various interviews that people often came up to them and said something like "hey your that guy from that comedy uh...Parks & Rec right?"

Cold open: a shot of open water in a giant storm. A boat passes really closely from a top down perspective. The camera pans up to show the back of the boat where we see its name--Childish Tycoon. Community really was one of the most unique shows out there. It took a premise you'd think you've seen time before, diverse characters that with how their archetypes are layed out should feel forced, pop culture references that would usually be insufferable, and somehow morph that into a show with so much love, humor, and controlled chaos. The entire show ends with a finale that is so meta that it addresses audiences not wanting the show to end and how to let a TV show go while still pulling at your heart strings with a somber yet satisfying ending (that even addressed the most shipped relationship in the community). It's so sad that it flopped so hard in 4, and the absence of 3 of the main characters really cut the show of a lot of it's charm. Pierce was a moderately sad absence, but at the time he was awful so it didn't really hurt. Troy was the day the show truly felt incomplete. And Shirley was salt on an open wound. The new characters failed to really help the show, except for maybe Frankie. Britta became insufferable, and Abed really needs Troy to play off to truly shine. That only left Jeff and Annie to carry the show, which made the finale even more gut wrenching because we were all Jeff in that episode. If the show would have kept Troy and Shirley, gave Pierce a more proper send off, and kept Dan for seasons 4-6, the show would have been perfect. But hey 1-3 are some of the best TV ever made, so there's that

I so want "Community: Finally a Movie", especially for all the trailers and posters to say "From the directors of "Captain America 2&3" and Marvel's "Avengers 3&4"". Maybe it would finally get "Community" the recognition it deserves. It's great on its own, but being the show that made MCU people notice the Russo brothers and invite them to direct "The Winter Soldier" definitely should've earned it more attention. And I hope everyone gets some time in their schedules to do it, so that it's absolutely epic and even people who have never seen the show go see it and enjoy it. To think of all the things Abed would have to talk about with so many superhero movies released in the years after the show ended!

The reason Joel's jokes fell flat is the reason Community is so massively underrated. Community is equal parts childish and intellectual, silly and wise, simple yet profound. (Remedial Chaos Theory is the best example I guess. Also the greatest episode of sitcom history imo.) Audiences don't like juxtaposition. They want the generic romance, drama, action and thrill in their standard packages. Community is NOT for the masses. It's cult. Only few will GET it in this generation. But the ones who do will love it obsessively.

Bringing back community is a good idea, but under 2 conditions: 1. Make sure the original cast is still used, including Chevy Chase and Donald Glover. 2. Make 100 episodes and release them at once so we can binge them all in less than a week
