Mongolia will never be able to attract Western tourism. the best it can Hope for is Chinese and Russian tourism which is also good..Mongolia is not too different to central Asian countries which is easier to get too and have more interesting views.

thou in reality inner Mongolia gets most Chinese tourists that want to experience Mongol culture and tuva does the same for Russia. so in reality few if any people that aren't Chinese, Russian or say Korean will ever step foot in Mongolia

Was in Mongolia in 2017. Felt perfectly safe and people were helpful and friendly, even in downtown Ulaan Baatar. Only time I got scammed was when I took an actual taxi instead of flagging someone on the road. Even then I only got overcharged by about 2 US dollars.
@SyifaAdrianaАй бұрын
I agree it's a perfectly safe country to travel to. Although having said that, you can easily get stuck in a Mongolian "hotel" next to room that has a very drunken local who likes to knock on your door in the middle of the night. Hahaha that was me speaking from an actual experience 😂 Thanks so much for your comment!

Hi Syifa, I am curious about some details of your trip. How did you get to Mongolia? Where did you fly in from? What airline? Mongolia has been in my list for I don’t know how long too but I have never gotten the chance/
@SyifaAdrianaАй бұрын
Hi! 😊 The easiest flight routes to Mongolia depend on where you're coming from. For Asia, popular connections are through Seoul, Beijing, Tokyo, or Hong Kong. From Europe, you can fly via Frankfurt or Istanbul. I flew into Ulaanbaatar from Kuala Lumpur with Korean Airlines, which was super convenient as I had a speaking engagement in Malaysia prior to this.

dear Syifa, what a wonderful introduction to Mongolia! Again (the same than with Hungary) you bring such a flair of the country & culture, and there were so many new and fascinating aspects for me... I was expecting, that the country is much influenced by its mighty neighbours, but I saw and heard even more of Tibetan Buddhism, and the young people seem to find South-Korea rather cool. I always like, that you bring into your videos local people, like the two Mongolian girls and the Buddhist monk - that enriches so much, than just showing buildings, air views, markets and food places... I do wonder sometimes, when I see you travelling in countries, where the industrialization is a bit behind the Western world one, and the people are more at peace, living their lives in humble ways, open and friendly, how you feel returning to Europe... does it feel less warm here in the culture? Finally I just want to give you big credit for the labourous & intense work, that you put into your so personal and yet informative presentations... I felt reminded of my time growing up, where there was only TV, and no internet... I often would see documentations of other countries where teams of say 1 presenter, 2 camera men, maybe a translater, and a driver would put it altogether, and then before broacasting there were more people involved, like editing it etc... and you do ALL OF THIS just by yourself... you must be very tired sometimes... thank you Syifa, I feel so grateful for what you do!!! 🥰🙏🌈

@rider2731Ай бұрын
Syifa, you're right about Mongolia being a buffer zone between China and Russia. It was indeed established as such by the former Soviet Union. The two great powers have decided not to alter the status quo. In contrast, Ukraine's role as a buffer zone has been intentionally undermined by the US and to some extent the EU countries, which has led to severe consequences. As we can see, this has resulted in significant casualties and destruction. Buffer zones were primarily created to maintain peace between great powers, and when their purpose is disregarded, there can be detrimental outcomes. Have a safe and pleasant trip. Thank you for sharing, as always.

@SyifaAdrianaАй бұрын
That’s such an interesting topic! Mongolia’s culture is deeply rooted in its nomadic traditions, and their way of life is closely tied to the land and livestock. Agriculture isn’t as widespread due to the vast steppes, but animal husbandry, raising horses, sheep, goats, and cattle, is a huge part of their system. I’ll try to highlight some of this in the upcoming videos. Thanks for your curiosity!

Hmm I think there are a few obvious differences I'd say would be their language. Kazakh language are Turkic whereas Mongolian are Mongolic. Kazakhstan was part of Soviet Union therefore Russian is still widely spoken and many of Slavic cuisine can be easily found in KZ. Mongolia was a Socialist country but never part of Soviet Union and I find that they have a strong Mongolian identity.
