Awesome video! I’m 43 years old and got into Death Metal after watching Traces of Death 3 VHS back in the early 90’s which had a killer soundtrack. It had Pungent Stench, Hypocrisy, Benediction, Deceased, Exit 13, Dismember, Mortician, etc on it. Started playing guitar/drums in 93 and played in few Death Metal bands. Playing shows was so awesome and I miss it. I love most all Metal genres except for NuMetal and Sellout Mainstream Metal like Korn, Slipknot, etc. I really like Tech Death Metal and Tech Deathcore a lot because there are some bands that are really pushing the boundaries of technicality and sheer brutality to another level. Bands like: Beneath The Massacre Archspire Rings of Saturn Ophidian I Origin Beyond Creation Cytotoxin First Fragment Gorod Spawn of Possession (R.I.P.) Necrophagist (R.I.P.) Cryptopsy and many more. I can’t believe no one in this video mentioned the band “Macabre”. They were one of the very first fast brutal Death Metal bands as they formed in 1984 and released there first album in 1986 I believe. Anyways, great video and anyone whose into Grindcore, Thrash Metal, DeathCore, Death Metal, Black Metal, etc props to you 🤜🤛 as you are helping to keep these genres of Metal alive and well. Anyone who likes the really technical heavy 💩then here is a taste. Enjoy! kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3Wki62qf7asmc0

@@nicholaschupka4150 your 43 huh? Time flys don’t it 😔 but hey we got some good memories to keep with us and time left to make more hopefully. Yes! Obituary was a big inspirational band for me and that’s awesome you also got into stuff like Archspire and Gorod. Some older metal heads I know have gotten stuck in the past and totally ignores or dislikes the newer stuff just because it’s new. I can’t do that because I love watching/listening to the progression/evolution of metal. Don’t get me wrong I still love the old stuff especially Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse (who are STILL putting out great stuff), Deicide, Carcass, At The Gates, Malevolent Creation, Pantera, Slayer, Sepultura, Napalm Death, man the list is long 😆. @@NoiseDosageMedia right on, i love heavy/death/black/thrash/electronic/goth/doom metal, etc, music is my father, i had no dad at home, so it is music that has been there for me, especially angry, violent music 🤗 i no longer live in florida, i live by death valley, once again, you really did a wonderful job with this documentary, and how death has not died at all in regards to being embraced by younger generations, regardless of the concept that everything's been uncovered or tried with death/extreme metal, i personally create music that uses electronics, along with down tempo and lower frequencies incorporated with softly spoken lyrics that are easily understood that is easily classified as heavy/extreme/death metal, and it does not sound generic or commercialized either, so take it from me, there is plenty of creativity left to create heavy music that does not sound like every one else, where anyone takes it is a matter of personal choice, artists create music for themselves, we just choose to like it or not, thank you for your reply, i appreciate it, keep up the good work, regards from nevada

I fully dig this documentary! One of the better ones, so sincerely expressing what we all love about Extreme Metal, and what gravitated us to it. I especially loved the comments around the 54.42 minute mark, where its mentioned that "people are the same everywhere, no matter where you go, there's a bunch of metal-heads waiting to see you... its a universal concept..." However, he goes on to name multiple countries but then says "you may not see that in Nigeria much..." I don't understand this. Are people not people in Nigeria? Are there no metalers in Nigeria? I'm not dissing the documentary-or the guy who said this, like I said, I love this documentary! I just don't understand why the exclusion of this particular country was made. Metal-Heads of all countries, ethnic groups, and back grounds just shows how wonderfully diverse the genre is geographically. We all share the same culture of METAL! No matter if we're from Nigeria, Japan, the Netherlands, Scotland, Ethiopia, Spain, the US, UK, India, Saudi Arabia, the Philippines, etc. I think its awesome that the culture of the Metal and heavy extreme music community is now extending to the furthest reaches if the world, and it solidifies this bond that we all share, know, and love about extreme heavy music. I grew up in Death Metal with more of the whole elitist-gatekeeper mentality. I think it was because there were so few of us and we wanted to show pride in what the squares (regular people) were giving us so much shit for being in to. But this also meant that alot of brown and black people were sort of ostracized. And, as was brought out in the documentary, there was a lot of division among the genres and sub-genres too. Today, I don't think there's any more room for that shit, and I personally think it's badass to go to shows and see people of all countries, colors, and ages rockin' out and banging their heads because we're all there for a shared purpose... Heavy, crunching, extreme METAL!!! I just think there's probably people in countries like Nigeria that feel the same way. But again. I love this documentary. It's so intelligent, for the most part. And so sincere, and genuine. Well done!

Man, At the Gates Slaughter of the Soul is one of the best metal albums ever made imo I was stoked to hear someone else call it out for the harmonious metal masterpiece it is. Super dope album. Certainly not my first metal experience or anything it came out when I was like 15 or so and I didn't even hear it until I was almost 20? I think. "Hardcore punk" is my first love, I use this terminology because my taste is definitely on a spectrum from metal to punk; don't get me wrong, I can jam out to some MF Doom too but definitely lean toward hardcore! Woah, it's rad they caught Ryan from Municipal Waste on here, he and Tony are both good people, actually I let them stay at my apartment when they were just releasing Waste Em All waaaay long ago after a show and it turned into this huge loud ass party in my geriatric apartment building! It was wild, we had a blast. Hung out with em a few times wayy back when Andy and Brandon were still in the band right before Witte started drumming and Brandon started Direct Control. Anyway real cool down to Earth fun guys to kick it and party with! They're touring soon don't miss em!

Great! One recommendation, you should mention who is talking at some point we don't know who is saying something, which band etc...CONGRATS! 🔥

I love Matt Harvey. One of the coolest dudes in the scene. He got me into EXODUS. And Mike from EHG. My favorite band.

I like how you showed newer bands because most metal heads are stuck in the past so it's good that you shined some spotlight on some newer stuff

Yeah that was cool. I relate to Ethan McCarthy the most on how he says that on the extreme side, there are going to be death/grind/black mixing noise or dissonance to create some fucked up sounds.

For me, AC/DC and Metallica showed me the door. Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, and Judas Priest unlocked the door. Slayer opened the door. Pantera blew the fucking door off the hinges. Carcass and Napalm Death were shining the light on the other side. And Cannibal Corpse sucked me in. Now I listen to death metal more than any other sub genre. But I still enjoy the classics.

A good and relatable list of inspiration! My older brother got me into Maiden and Priest back in the 80's, but he couldnt understand when I liked Slayer and Anthrax. Different strokes and whatnot. I'm new to listening to Death metal, but I regret all the years I wrote it off as " growling cookie monster stuff". I was wrong. The best musicians are playing death metal.

@@saltpeter7429 Same with me. Took me a while to get into death metal. I liked Carcass and CC in the 90’s, but I didn’t go out and buy all their CDs like I did with other bands. But the older I got the more I liked death metal. And now it’s my favourite sub genre.
