When I heard “sleep on, fly on” I got emotional and I didn’t know why, then I figured it out. Ants of the Sky was the BTBAM song that changed my path as a guitarist and hearing that call back, for a small moment I was a 16 year old kid again, being truly inspired and changed for the first time all over again. This is what we needed after that year we all experienced. A year of fearing, hating, and just doubting existence in general. We needed to feel inspired, to “fly on”.

I saw this comment so I patiently waited for that point in the song... then, I actually got chills even though I knew that it was coming. The original "sleep on, fly on" was my favorite moment in the first album and I really cannot express how happy that this first listen of Colors II is making me right now. Totally dude. I feel like when Dan came in in 2004 he was hugely influenced by Chris Squire and Yes as a whole and brought that in with him. You heard snippets of it in Alaska and the rest of the band had time to listen to all the bands Dan was showing them so by the time they were writing Colors, it just exploded. You hear a ton of Yes on this album too. I love it too.

I hear more King Crimson, Kansas, and ELP as well. And yes (no pun intended), Dan brought most of the prog influences into the band, even though he performed wildly live in the mid to late 2000's. You can gradually see him mature as a musician both in studio and live during the Parallax II era, especially with him playing additional keys with Tommy.

It is without question the best song on the album, and that says more about the song’s greatness rather than the rest of the album lacking quality(I think it’s all-around a very good album with several impressive tracks). But I believe Bad Habits is one of the very best songs BTBAM have ever written. Which is saying something.

it's not discussed because they're not heavy in any way. they are a metal band, but you don't listen to btbam and expect to receive the same emotions that you would from listening to car bomb or meshuggah for example. there's a certain intensity that btbam lacks.
