Between the Buried and Me is one of the best examples of a band where no one's playing is overshadowed by anyone else. Their musicianship is nothing short of exquisite.

I can't listen through this album straight through without crying tears of joy through the last 2 minutes of this song. I have listed to this album hundreds and hundreds of times, and I still get chills and choked up every single time. When they came around for the 10th anniversary tour for Colors, when the last section of White Walls started, I knew it was coming. I felt a lump in my throat and looked around to see if anyone was looking at me about to become a wreck, and I was delighted to see that others around me already had little wet streaks trailing away from their eyes. It was a moment of acceptance, and I LOST IT. Bleary-eyed and borderline deluded, I let go and the tears just came out of me. When the song drew to a close and the piano riff ended and everyone was rejoicing, I turned to look for my friend who was with me, but what I found was a MASSIVE dude, a foot taller than me and several hundred pound heavier who was drenched in sweat, also pouring tears. He grabbed me by the shoulders and threw his arms around me. We'd been through a spiritual experience together and we were brothers now. It was like going home to see your parents after being gone for so long. I relive that night and joy it brought me every now and then, and it would never have happened if it weren't for the gentlemen in BTBAM. I can't express my gratitude for the countless hours you've spent dazzling my ears and the many performances I've had the great fortune of seeing, but none of that will ever compare to the night I lost myself in a crowd of strangers and learned to let go. Thank you.

I saw Colors live in Portland before I could even get the album. I was a huge fan of Alaska and I got a ticket to the show. They played the whole album without pause. I remember being so impressed by their stamina, but I couldn't fully appreciate the album until I could hear it studio quality and fully disect it (drummer). It's hard to hear everything at a live show when you don't know what to expect. I would fucking love to see it again after having listened to it countless times now. White Walls is a masterpiece.

The Colors Ten Year Tour was fucking incredible. Best atmosphere in a show I've ever seen. The crowd sang every word and just got wild. Tommy was standing on his amp sweating and just belting it out. Best damn concert I've ever been to in my life. It was at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz, too. Small ass venue so there couldn't have been more than a few hundred people. Shit was amazing.

I watched a battle of the bands where for the final bracket they gave each band 15 mins and the winning band used this single song instead of 2 or 3 (some used 4) shorter songs. Absolutely smashed the competition

Lyrics: The monsters are made, and we have proven that we will be one of them. The whores take the stage...flash our skills... gotta draw 'em in...gotta keep 'em on their toes... don't show them how you truly are...who would want honesty... who would want a group of people that one can relate with. We need worship, we need devotion... becoming gods from the image that is thrown... thrown out in their everyday lives to comfort... it's not a musical journey anymore... they chose Camilla and we stood by her the entire time... monotonous expression...a forced replica of a tired sound... puppets for a greed-driven carnival... the same charade as the passing years... force me out there. Don't give them a chance. They want to be fed...fed a simple replication of past greatness. (Things have changed...we have changed. Personal happiness is what we strive to achieve... so you can love or hate...it won't change a thing for us.) Step back. Evaluate. Recognize. We just need to throw some new ideas in... (It) will eventually get out of this closed off circle we are part of... it's all the same. This is all we have when we die. It's what's left of us when we die. We will be remembered for this. White wall

Just saw them for the first time when I went to go see The Acacia Strain open up for them in Boston this week and I was never into them but now I see why ppl love them. Although not my typical experimental type of metal, they are very much their own thing. Much respect. They played the entirety of colors and the only way to describe it is a rock opera

Can anyone hear a difference in the remix? I don't have monitors, but decent speakers. Cant hear the difference
@iPlayDrums4You4 жыл бұрын
The biggest difference I notice is how the bass sounds, not just the bass guitar but the over all bass of the mix, it's much more balanced which allows the lead and the vocals to shine a little bit more, plus they remixed the bass drum much better and it's far less in your face than the original. I could definitely see some people preferring the original mix however this is a much more modern and balanced mix IMO.

@@sheepisleep Technical progressive metal isn't technical death metal. Learn to read AND listen. Archspire blows BTBAM out of the water both musically, lyrically AND technically. These guys were cool when I was a teenager but you get over them as you grow up, kind of like warped tour actually. Also, nobody here is listening to Taylor swift. Are you trying to admit that you're a closeted swifty? Because not even your two dads would approve of that. 😏

There is definitely some progressive elements and the heaviness is really cool but the vocals could be more polished imo... I dig the guitar work in the end very Maidenish with a touch of virtuosity and melodically inspired parts. Overall it's a C+ for me. The piano ending went from an Aoelian vibe to a Major sound, that eschewed the vibe for me but these guys have some good options to make something that is appealing to the masses.
@benjaminberkey2920 Жыл бұрын
