I miss this show :( One day I was watching Arthur with my sister and as we were waiting for the mother episode to come on at the end credits it showed Cleo waving to the viewers so I asked my mom were it was from and she said "Between the Lions. Don't you remember?" I instantly looked it up on Wikipedia and did research to find old episodes and I felt sad I stopped watching it. Don't think I'm weird I get emotional about things I shouldn't......but to the point I really really miss this show and want it to come back on even though I'm so much older I would still watch it. :(

That's not weird that you got sad - I get like that too. For me it is remembering those magical times and these things that remind us of them - and we feel how we felt but at the same time it will never be the same cuz those moments are so far away in the past. This brought me back really hard to my childhood- just hearing and seeing this refreshes other unrelated old memories. I don't want to grow up.

Looks like they just ended production; the last season was September 20-November 22, 2010. They aired it on reruns for 8 more months until August 31, 2011. Altho Mister Rogers ended 20 years ago and yet it still airs in reruns. Hypocrisy.

It's one of the biggest mysteries why it was pulled from the air. Production ended for the show in 2010 but PBS will usually air a show for years after its last episode before pulling it off the air like they did with Dragon Tales they let it air for nearly 5 years past its last episode, Zoboomafoo aired for nearly 7-8 years, and the original Clifford still continues to air to this day as well. But Between the Lions only aired for less than a year past its last episode. The most likely reason it was removed was because they were planning on making a full animated show out of Between the Lions so the original show was probably pulled so there could be a timeslot for it. Unfortunately the animated series was never finished so it has never come back on again. It's a shame I think it was one of PBS' highest rated shows even before being removed.

@@doo-dah5715 That might be possible but I don't think that's the only reason why because several other WGBH shows like Fetch! with Ruff Ruffman, Arthur, Martha Speaks, etc., continued to air (in reruns) much longer after this was removed off the air. I'm still sticking with my theory that they were going to make the animated version of Between the Lions so they took it off the air to replace it but production fell through so that's why they never put it back on.
