Hello, I'm in the early stages of preparing a modular set. I've set on some modules, and come to terms with what I wish to do. So let's go!
Big shoutout to xor-electronics... for staying true to their vision, and making the Nerdseq so incredible.
Keeping an eye on instrumentsoft... and their open source TBD. Promising!
And also the Euroburo by empresseffects... is a big YES from me.
Looking forward to nerding out!

Just became your patreon last month, so glad I did. Sadly I had to get rid of my modular rig because of brain surgery expenses. In a way I’m glad I sold my modules(that workflow was too hectic for me) but I really love it when people can make those little machines scream. Hope you can find your own sound within all the patching. ✌️ 🌌

Beautiful sentiment: the modular being almost an invitational tool that is specific but also wide open. A tool that behaves differently in each person’s hands.

That Nerdseq UI is a flash back to 1995 trackers, holy crap! I feel like i should be asking "send me the s3m file!" - Thanks for the great rundown Cuckoo - look forward to seeing what you create! (and now i'm intrigued about the Chord v2 as well!)

Cuckoo i had the chord. i would rather recommend the 4ms enssemble oscillator. sounds way way better, for chords and even baseline. amazing module!

Wow! Very impressed by your honesty. I too constantly ask myself we’re is the compositional thread here? It’s a quest I tired of quickly. You are a beast with the cc and midi world so I don’t doubt your ability to conquer the holy grail . Good luck👽

Hi Cuckoo, I am also a Nerdseq user, I love it. I think this thing is very fun to jam and is also a mini Ableton for playing live. Just FYI, there's NS command called PCRD which uses consecutive channels of the CV expander to play chords. You'll still need 4 oscillators anyway :) so the Chords seems like a good alternative but I'd prefer to program the chord types in the sequencer.
@truecuckoo

That is really cool. I’ve only read about it but wanna try it out. Chords on modulars is taking up a lot of space though.

Everybody: the Oktatrack is soo complicated! Modular: Please hold my cables. 😅 Reddit aside I really love the way you're presenting it here. Most honest intro into modular I've seen in a long time. Thx!

modular makes Octatrack look like a cake walk and bargain. What gets complex for me on the Octatrack is the trigless trigs and many ways to do things.

Hi really lovely video. One question. I have a NerdSeq as well but I never used the Keystep for live input. Are you using the midi expander? Cause in the video I couldn't understand how you connected everything. And I would love to learn cause I play live and have that freedom could be the "key" for more fun and less clicks ♥️🧿
@truecuckoo
@truecuckoo 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah I’m using the new, more compact MIDI expander. You can achieve some of this with the CV inputs too, if you set it up like so. I think here I set one MIDI channel to always be the live input, and the other channels to reflect each 1-8 track. This way I can at any time change the MIDI channel on the Keystep and play that track. While one MIDI channel (10) will always be the live recording input on the current channel.

I told myself I wouldn't delve into physical modular because I love my G2, but you might have just convinced me. The form factor of your setup makes it seem a lot less intimidating.

Cuckoo can you please share the name / make of your euroack case? Very nice system! Also please don't be discouraged! Your detail oriented and complex arraignment can absolutely be done in modular. There is no one way to do modular synthesis. Thanks for sharing your journey! Don't forget about your Continuum and Roli gear. They make EXCELLENT control sources for your modular.

Don't forget about the deluge...I use mine as a sequencer with modular all the time. Definitely not as powerful in this aspect as the nerdseq...but could be supplemental
@truecuckoo
@truecuckoo 2 жыл бұрын
True. If used with the MIDI output, and on the modular side having a MIDI to CV interface it could be really powerful. It’s a great sequencer.
