Great video! We moved to beautiful Utah 2 years ago when we sold our business in Louisiana. We’ve loved RVing in all the parks. The hikes in each park, are unique and never disappoint. We’ve never encountered rude people, I’m happy to say. We do have a southern saying that I would use if I do, however.. you smile real big and say, “ well, bless your heart !” 🤣🤣Try it!

Have heard that saying and always love it when it is used. 😄 Sounds like you're living the dream though!

Loved the video, Glen. Thank you! We share similar thoughts about that amazing National Monument. As neat as it looks on video it pails in comparison to actually seeing it in person.

That can be said about a lot of things 😅, but I believe it's especially true in that region.

Highway 12 is one of the best drives anywhere in the west. As your video very aptly shows. The parts between Escalante and Boulder give me perma-grin. I really appreciate that you give a lot of credit to the ancient people of the region for being innovative and highly intelligent. Their accomplishments are astounding (especially Chaco, which is still one of the most mind blowing places I've ever been). Incidentally, regarding the wheel, I read something a few years ago that kinda explains that myth about the wheel. They've found childrens toys that essentially have "wheels" since round, rolling things are useful & fun. But since draft animals like oxen and mules weren't introduced to North America till the Europeans arrived, there was no point in building large implements on wheels because no big animals were going to be pulling them. So, sure, they didn't invent a wheel in the grand sense, but there's an underlying reason for it. Always thought that was an interesting observation. Wish I could remember who wrote that. Capitol Reef is amazing! Really looking forward to seeing your first impressions in the next video. It's one of those parks where there's the easy to access places off the paved roads, but their backroads and 4x4 paths are extensive and really get way back in there.

We drove it last May and will be again this coming May... Boulder Mt. Is much better in person.. it maybe my favorite stretch pf 12.
@CactusAtlas14 күн бұрын
@johnchedsey1306 Heck yes to perma-grin!! We've got some videos coming on some of the roads on Capitol Reef. Stay tuned! And interesting about the wheel - something I've never thought about before. I don't think enough people give credit though to those cultures tbh. Chaco is honestly impressive and I feel saddened when people don't see it for that.

Beautiful. I was wondering when you would hit Capital Reef. Well worth it for sure. I am planning maybe for next spring or fall to visit Utah. That will be my first venture out after moving to Arizona and I think it is getting very close now. I was cross-country skiing at the Grand Mesa in CO and we went to an over look that I could see the La Sal Mountains. This was probably around 65 miles away. So close here in Colorado to Utah and what a change in the scenery. Thanks Glenn and Amy. I want to watch this one again and also Campvue. Just beautiful. Thanks for all your hard work.

Hello again Glenn & Amy, still loving your videos! You stopped at my favorite hwy viewpoint overlooking Hwy 12. We did all 5 Utah NP's a couple years ago just after we started our channel and stopped there to do Lower Calf Creek Falls trail. Coincidentally, I also just posted a vintage video on that stretch of Hwy 12 the other day (driving the opposite direction). I hope you can check it out when you have time. We have similar loves & interests!

Good stuff thx....You might listen to Navajo Traditional teachings on YT... from the Navajo perspective....many tribes absorbed into other tribes?...I also believe Anasazi translates Navajo "enemy"

We've heard something like that, too. It's one of those things where you often see the term used by parks and wonder if it should be or not.

Very enjoyable, I love your thoughtful commentary and thanks for taking us on this drive. Only spoiled by the insane number of ad breaks that completely ruined the flow. Can you reduce these please? I don't mind maybe 2 or 3 ad breaks but this was like every 7 minutes.KZbin is getting worse for this, it's like broadcast TV used to be. In the end people will just watch you, and YoutTube, less. OK sorry for the rant but it did spoil things a bit.
@CactusAtlas14 күн бұрын
So sorry to hear. We try to minimize the amount that KZbin automatically puts in, as well as edit in such a way that the placement isn't too disruptive.
