I bought flowers from a local person who said that throwing flowers into the crater is a traditional ritual here to appease the fire god and make a wish. Many people sell and throw flowers. And I heard that such an event is held every year. Is there something wrong with this?

@@mirithreep Yes. There's a tradition and ritual of "larung" (throwing) something (usually natural crops from the native people's farm) called "sajen" or "sesajen" (offerings) into the crater. A sajen can be vegetables, fruits, flowers, and livestock animals (usually chicken and goat). The name of the ritual is "Yadnya Kesada". It's practiced by Tengger people, the indigenous ethnic group of Mount Bromo. Don't worry, you are Not wrong. He only don't know about Yadnya Kesada, the Tenggerese ritual. 😊
