I’m sure I could put together something in SketchUp, but I would certainly buy plans or a even just the model if you’re selling something. You also have Shaun Freaking Boyd commenting on your video! Thank you Don! Yeah I learned a lot from this project! I suggest using plywood for drawer bottoms haha. It was a lot of work
@DonsWoodies5 жыл бұрын
Alex, I was about 20 or so when I made my first real piece of furniture. It was a jewelry box for my girlfriend, similar in size to your organizer but a bit taller. Made from solid oak, with drawers similar to what you did with no slides - just wood on wood. My uncle helped me with both the design and manufacture of it. Neither of us had any clue about wood movement. For the life of that box (my ex-wife, now, so I assume she still has it) it was a struggle every season change to get the drawers to slide correctly. I was so happy that the drawers fit snugly and each one was matched to it's place in the box. So clueless. LOL. I see yours have a bit of clearance so that should not be a problem for you. Oh, and yea, plywood bottoms - thumbs up for those!
@BevelishCreations5 жыл бұрын
Don's Woodies yeah the sponsor wanted everything made from solid wood. I did a lot of research to make sure I covered everything (I hope) so I don’t put out some misinformation out there on the web. I’m glad you told me about the drawers haha, because I was questioning whether wood movement would be a problem on such small pieces for me to leave such large gaps. Hopefully mine will be ok haha
@DonsWoodies5 жыл бұрын
@@BevelishCreations I think yours will be fine. When I said mine were snug, I mean you wouldn't have been able to fit a piece of paper alongside the drawer. BIG mistake with solid wood. I might have been OK if I had the grain going the correct direction on the draw bottom, but being clueless at that time it wasn't even a thought.
