It's amazing that aluminum can be stretched out like that, without rolling it. Is it heated during that step to make it more pliable? It seems like cracking would be a common problem
@engineerguyvideo Жыл бұрын
That’s why it is done progressively (ie in steps)
@user-dh6bj2me5p8 ай бұрын
At every step, the aluminum is getting warmer (but not hot.) The amount of heat doesn't increase the elasticity however, if the process is stopped, and the aluminum loses heat, the piece will become brittle and might not be capable of making a finished can. The most critical aspect of the process is the temper/hardness of the raw material AND the amount of oil used in the process... especially the deepest draws.

Love the videos. Learned recently that the bottom dome is also used to make stacking more efficient and you can also use one can to open another.
@SuperUltimateLP8 ай бұрын
That still NOT the original reason for the dome... The hole in the handle is also NOT for a straw (like some stupid "lifehack" videos implied) Correlation is not causation! If it happens to stack better then that's a bonus not the reason for it.

It’s there to reduce the amount of liquid my uncle worked at Coca Cola in the 90s and they spent a lot of time trying to come up with packaging that would deceptively look larger than it could hold while still holding 347 mil. Same goes for bottles, the bottom indents shaped into a star.
