i so totally agree with you about Bubbles being such a wonderful person. This aria is her at her best in her later years. That high D always brings tears to my eyes, and her presence onstage was astounding. She has opened my soul and allowed me to sing opera in a completely different way... for that iam forever grateful. The Heavens are ringing with beautiful song now...

Beverly Sills was an amazing artist who brightened the world with her presence. Her passing brings us both hope, as her legacy reminds us of the heights of human potential, and a deep sadness for the last act has finally come to close.

To gatsbyfaith-- She and Burnett became best friends after their 1976 concert at the Met. Saw her in her Met debut 1975.

sometimes we forget that opera is performance....if you didn't know who sills was(if possible) you would say that it was Queen Elizabeth singing......i just turned the sound down and asked my partner who was on the screen - and he said Bette Davis as Queen Liz -there you go! and now that he's left the room...oh, BEV - my favorite aria...Rest in Peace - I'll always love you!!!!

Check out beverlysills dot com and premiere opera dot com. It was 11/25/1976. (That's the only way they let you indicate URL's here.) Burnett also appeared in Bev's 1980 farewell concert at the City Opera.

It must be a typo, because i'm sure it was in March 1977
