I don't know if it is true or not: Brenda was thought for Spelling to be "the perfect American girl". I mean: Kelly and Brenda were very attractives but Kelly was 'superficial' and Brenda had 'familiar and friendship values'. I Know it is terrible to say that now Shannen is dead but Shannen was a troubled person. Shannen was a great and beautiful actress, it is undeniable. I am sure she changed her personality with difficulties she had in later years. To the point: if you watch Beverly Hills 90210 Jennie Garth was in all the season and she had a positive change...Shannen- Brenda Walsh- went to London because Spelling didn't want her even though she had talent. If you watch season 3 Brenda Walsh started to smoke: there is nothing wrong in it but it is not "perfect American morality in a good girl", furthermore Brenda Walsh is more demanding and has problems with her parents. Walsh should have been in serie 'the perfect family', but Spelling changed the script, above all in Brenda. I believe we must praise alive people: Jennie Garth: I know it is difficult you read that but you if you do you were a great actress.
