I've done many of these trucks, The wires are in no danger of being cut from an experienced extractor user. With the flat side of the blade moving down the glass side and the blade firmly against the glass following the glue line the wires would never be cut even if wires are pulled abnormally close to the glass. The stroke is a very short travel and you should be using an extra long blade which is the most flexible allowing it to conform to the glass shape. As example, you wouldn't cut the rear view mirror wires which are often against the glass on vehicles older than ten years,,or present day nearly every semi tractor has camera wires pressed firmly against the glass and I've never cut one. Nothing wrong with just using a cable system, except that an extractor blade should cut out about 3500 windshield bottoms versus how much $ worth of cable...It's just economy of both speed an material dollars. Maybe cable systems are the industry answer to training new techs as I don't understand how that could be done in this age of vehicles and techs that get paid at retail worker wages.

Have you done other 2018 Chevy trucks and if so have you found the same thing? Any other truck styles like this with wires?

Wow! Thanks for the heads up. What made you wire it instead of using a blade?
