I saw one about the same size 15 years ago. Since then I now plant chives on the ends of my tomato row, and a basil plant between every tomato plant. Haven't seen another one since. Absolutely love you two. Thank you for such entertainment AND garden advice. God bless you both.

I can remember going with my mama to look for tomato worms. I would kneel in the dirt and just let my eyes roam over the plant. It’s amazing when one comes clear in your vision. So big I always wondered how I could have been missing him. I wish I could go back and do that, my mama has been gone since 2007. Mrs H, you made me laugh when you said, “him and his homeboys.” God’s blessing on you both.

@CherokeeWarriorWoman Жыл бұрын
@@mchrysogelos7623 why don't you play them? I gave 38 to my oldest granddaughter. I listened to those 1 more time but saved my favorites like Kenny Roger's, 3 Dog Night, Bob Seger and the Silver bullet band, and about 200 45s. There is going to be a fight over them I'm sure when I die. My middle daughter wants the 45s soooo bad. I think it's only fair to share. She's really into the 70s stuff but I'm thinking about selling them just to stop a fight. I'd say I would get a pretty good deal out of the Kenny Rogers albums alone. I have 27. I want to listen to them all 1 last time and have a good cry. Jim Croce also sang Time in a Bottle. Do you remember that one? And then there's my AC/DC collection. My favorite rock n roll band. Waylon Jennings, etc. I'm super eclectic lol. I want to mellow out, it's country. I want to clean house? It's rock to energize me. 😁🥰

Hello there. Do you have chickens? If you do then you can make what my sister calls "stinky water" for your tomatoes. You need a 5 gallon bucket, a pot of really really strong coffee, 2 pinches of Epsom salt and a shovel of chicken manure. Put all the ingredients in the bucket then fill the bucket the rest of the way with water. Stir the bucket well then let sit for 1 day. On the following day stir again then take 1 cup of "stinky water" and mix it with a gallon of fresh water. Then water your plants with the mix every day or every other day your choice. Just remember, 1cup of stinky water to 1gallon of water. When you run out just make some more. Mine and my sister's plants love it!

The easiest way to go Tomato Horn Worm hunting. I use a blacklight flashlight at night. They glow under black light. I pick them off, and feed them to the chickens. Every year, there are less of them, because I pick them off before they can lay their eggs... Even when they are teeny weeny.

The Next Level Gardening channel guy advises that you plant basil with your tomatoes, peppers and eggplants as a deterrent to the tomato hornworm. He says he had not had a problem with hornworms in five years - until he started a new raised bed for some peppers and did not co-plant with basil. He has basil planted all over his garden. You may want to give that some thought for the next gardening season.

sadly I cannot get basil to grow much. This year no luck with pepper plants either; it has really been a bad year. we live in a high-elevation place and our usual 'last frost date' is in late May (although we do sometimes get snow after that). I have planted SO MANY peppers and nothing - NOT ONE plant sprouted. I am on the THIRD planting and they are an inch tall (though THIS TIME, some DID sprout). I kind of gave up, and just bought some plants, but the problem I have with that is when the peppers start growing, squirrels will come and tear them off the plant and often they will just DIG UP the plant. I have had this problem many years with squirrels. ever since people in the city started feeding them - now we have peanut plants coming up all over and VERY aggressive squirrels. We also have deer, rabbits, raccoons and a few other things which feed off our gardens. And I don't live out of town, right in a fairly big city.

Tomato hornworms make my skin crawl, yuck! Up here in the NE we have these great parasitic wasps. They don't sting people, they are mother nature's heros. The wasp lays her eggs on the hornworm. As the eggs hatch they literally eat the worm. So if you see white spots on the worm, don't kill him, just put him somewhere he can't do any damage and let the wasps populate your garden.
