Anew cruise scam has begun popping up on social media claiming people have a bunch of cruise ducks they can no longer use but will send them to you for just the cost of postage. Both Celebrity and margaritaville are making changes to their cruise ships. Hotel now suing Bar Harbour as well over cruise ship limits.

For my last cruise on the FB group page a “nice lady” posted she was hiding crochet made ducks, i gave it a like, next I knew I got messenger from here stating that due to her son’s illness they had to cancel the cruise and asked me if I wanted them and which area I live. Immediately that raise flags and I blocked her and when I went to look for the posting to warn the people in the FB group the posting was gone. Definitely we need to be very careful accepting messages from unknown people.

Lots of scams in roll call groups on facebook. As a general rule, anyone selling shirts, ducks etc are scams sadly. Never give anyone info or buy from them! Buy direct from a site.

I have been to Bar Harbor twice. Love the tea shop and had a nice lunch before a shore excursion which was nice but that’s about all there was. Nothing much to see.. Their loss.

That type of Duck Scam has actually been around for about a year or longer. Also be wary of group members who claim to be selling any type of Cruise/Sailing Specific Logoed merchandise.

My opinion solely here: Not sure about bringing in local vendors on a ship. Bazaar is not an experience I am interested in. I see potential security problems as it’s hard to vet these vendors boarding the ship regardless of what their governments say. Also if I wanted to be hassled and haggled I would just go into port. Leave the bazaar atmosphere there. If it’s someone coming on board for a cultural lecture or demo that’s fine for those interested.

Pre-Covid Celebrity ships used to do port of call specific food, entertainment and retail options all the time. I particularly remember this during a Baltic cruise in the mid-2010s. Although if they are bringing local vendors on board to sell arts and crafts for a couple of days at a time that would be new.

My last cruise in April, the Facebook group for the cruise was full of this duck scam. "An unexpected emergency made me cancel this cruise last minute, pay me and I will ship these ducks to you." Also, another person was doing customizable Yeti or Stanley tumblers. "Pay me and I will deliver the tumblers to all of you on the second day of the cruise." I remember thinking to myself, how is this person going to get all of these tumblers into their luggage and onto the ship?? A T-Shirt of the cruise ship was another scam. It was an older image with the wrong livery on the front of the ship. Rule of thumb, never buy anything from a Facebook cruise group.

The US legal system is crazy. Passengers being able to sue if the business is obeying local laws? Surely if a law comes into effect that makes the contract impossible, the contract should be null and void. But I still don't see why passengers would be able to sue, they can't sue the cruise lines when the itinery changes.

Margaritaville- sounds interesting! They do have the biggest tip policy! Celebrity- Eden is too crowded for shows and not a great venue for shows due to the lay-out! Not sure I’ll like the Bazaar -same crap you see in port, with a higher price tag.

Don, long time viewer but I have a complaint. I pay specifically for add-free KZbin. When you insert advertising copy into your video, you eliminate my ability to skip it as a paid service. I will be bringing this up to KZbin's management because it is not right. Nothing personally against you - many channels do it, but it's a cheap way for advertisers to sneak back in. I wish the cruise industry would stop bullying Bar Harbor. The hotel contract isn't an issue. Basic contract law is that if a contract requires either party to break the law, it is null and void. So this is a non-issue.

No, it's Bar Harbor government overreach and they're being sued by their own citizens who have lost business not the cruise lines. The Federal Appeals Court that's hearing the case is so far taking a dim view of the arguments of the town council. 'The panel of judges questioned what other recourse the town has to control tourism- comparing local and national parks around the country that are only open for certain hours and regulate some activities....he panel of three judges pushed back, noting the possible impacts on the cruise industry if other parts of the country impose similar restrictions.' Let's be real here. The issue isn't really overtourism but part of a more global effort by partisan climate change activists to ban commercial cruise ships in general as they see them as evil producers of greenhouse gasses and the like.
