(N/A) Infectious Sporeling wasn't drawn or played this game. *Game 2* (N/A) Bone Wraith wasn't drawn or played this game. (N/A) Infectious Sporeling wasn't drawn or played this game. *Game 3* (N/A) Bone Wraith wasn't drawn or played this game. (N/A) Infectious Sporeling wasn't drawn or played this game. *Game 4* (16:51) Bone Wraith was drawn (The early game flexibility didn't matter much on draw.) (17:23) Infectious Sporeling was drawn (The other options wouldn't have matter much this early in the game.) (17:48) Bone Wraith was played (Augmerchant would have allowed for a "fast" answer to the Frozen Shadoweaver, but at the cost of two cards (i.e. combined with Rising Winds), so this was the best option this game.) (18:46) Infectious Sporeling was played (Given the damage on board that could go face, he could have played a 3/2 minion instead of the Sporeling. Given how the plays worked out, it appears that the opponent attempted to play around the Sporeling, sacrificing minions, board clears and a Fire Elemental to take out one minion lends to support that the Infectious Sporeling was the best option this game.) *Game 5* (25:42) Bone Wraith was drawn (On draw, it wouldn't have affected the play for either option.) (N/A) Infectious Sporeling wasn't drawn or played this game. *Game 6* (26:41) Infectious Sporeling was drawn. (Could've been used for early game pressure, but Trump values it as removal. Other options would have been unplayable on turn 1.) (27:10) Infectious Sporeling was played. (A good concept on paper, arguably should have been played earlier, but comparing it to the other options, this was the best choice for this game.) (N/A) Bone Wraith wasn't drawn or played this game. *Game 7* (34:32) Bone Wraith was drawn. (On draw, the Augmerchant might have allowed Trump to establish a board in this position, but he might have still chosen hero power, valuing the utility of the Augmerchant over its presence on board.) (35:21) Bone Wraith was played. (This was the best option at this board state, he would have probably fallen behind if he didn't have a good minion to play at this point in the game.) (36:25) Infectious Sporeling was drawn and played this turn. (Frenzied Felwing would probably have had roughly the same result as Infectious Sporeling in this position. Trump would have ended up taking an addition 2 damage, and he would have probably used the Oasis Surger to trade into the Cobalt Spellkin, which would mean that he would have a 4/3 Felwing instead of a 4/2 Surger on board after the play had finished. Sporeling was therefore a neutral choice compared to the other options.) *Game 8* (37:31) Bone Wraith was part of the mulligan phase. (He might have considered keeping the Augmerchant at this point instead of tossing the Bone Wraith back into the deck. I'm not sure if his plays would have changed for the early turns. It should be noted that in the world where he kept the Augmerchant, the draws would be at the very least delayed, so its usefulness can really only be stated on drawn or when the Bone Wraith is eventually played. Therefore, it is wholly unfair to rate its apparent usefulness beyond 1-2 turns past the mulligan phase.) (42:09) Embiggen buffed Infectious Sporeling was drawn and played. (If Frenzied Felwing had been selected, he would have had to either leave up the Pyromancer, or be unable to play it as it would cost 6 mana on draw. As an interesting note, a 4 mana, 4/4 Kobold Geomancer would have been an excellent play on this turn, but he wouldn't have drafted it against the Felwing and the Sporeling.) (N/A) Bone Wraith wasn't drawn again or played this game. *Game 9* (51:02) Embiggen buffed Bone Wraith was drawn and played. (Best option for this game, other options would have been terrible for tempo, and he probably would have been beaten.) (N/A) Infectious Sporeling wasn't drawn or played this game. *Game 10* (53:34) Bone Wraith was kept during the Mulligan phase. (He probably would have kept the Augmerchant, but its possible based on the fact that he already had solid turns 1, 2, and 3 plays, that he might have considered mulliganing it away. I'm going to rate it based on the fact that he kept it, instead of the other option.) (53:55) Having Augmerchant instead of Bonewraith might have altered the play on this turn allowing for value trades and maintaining early game pressure. (56:18) Bone Wraith is played. (Probably would have been more useful as an Augmerchant even here as he could have either taken out the other Augmerchant or potentially used the ping to clear out the Dragonmaw with a combination trading with the Gyrocopter.) (N/A) Infectious Sporeling wasn't drawn or played this game. --- All in all, Bone Wraith performed moderately better than expected compared to the Rocket Augmerchant especially due to its positive synergy with Embiggen. However, Infectious Sporeling was pretty fringe overall and its utilities didn't outright outweigh the usefulness that a 4 mana, 3/2 that could cost 0 would have added to the deck. Due to the fact that Infectious Sporeling is both difficult to play and to play around it could be considered more powerful, but it feels more like a liability than a consistently useful tool.

Awesome analysis! After playing with Sporeling, I think most people will play it "under its potential" and I think when it is played well it is an above average card which I definitely pick all the time against Frenzied Felwing, a below average card

Natural selection, I think. Alex/Zeph are so good that as you reach 7+ in Arena your opponents only consist of the 1% of decks that drafted it, or that can reliably generate them. Everyone else was outcompeted at the lower ranks. So they feel more common than they really are. Or the spaghetti algorithm is busted idk

There's 64 outcomes for 6 flips. 1 is impossible because you can't land 6 hits on a 5hp minion. 1 more is impossible because you can't land 6 hits on the 4hp minion, and 6 more are impossible because you can't land 5 hits on the 4hp minion. So there's a total of 64 - 8 = 56 valid outcomes. Out of those there are 6 which result in 5 bad hits, 6/56 = ~10.7%

That's actually not true, because different outcomes have different paths to get there. For example: outcome 3/3 has the paths: First 3 minion a, last 3 minion b. First 2 a, next 3 b, Last a First 2 a, next 2 b, next a, next b First 2 a, next 2 b, next b, next a First 2 a, next b, next a next 2 b ... You get the thing First a, next 3 b, Last 2 a ... First 3 b, last 3 a Whilst (if it were possible) the outcome of all 6 a or b only have one path to get there: a-a-a-a-a-a For the outcome to get 5 x b and 1 a there are only 6 paths: aaaaa b aaaa b a aaa b a aa b aaa a b aaaa b aaaaa You can also look at it this way: There are a total of 1x2x3x4x5x6=720 paths. Of these all the paths with 5 or 6 X a and 6xB don't work. We don't know if hearthstone rerolls if one of those options appear or if it does every roll after the other which would just lead to 4a 2b everytime effectively giving 8 more paths for the outcome 4a2b. You can actually just use Bernoulli though and get the chance of the outcome 5b1a which is (Amount of paths for outcome)x (chance of hitting b)^(amount of hits of b in outcomes)x(1-chance of hitting b)^number of totals rolls-amount of hits of b in Outcome) Which is 6x0.5^5x0.5^1= 9,375%

The last 8/720 paths only lead to a very small difference in probabilities and since we don't know how the code works it's okay to leave them out here. If they do work with rerolling, all other 712 options get equally more probabilities and if they add to the outcome of 4a2b than it doesn't change the chance of outcome 5b1a

Also worth pointing out that the percentage chance isn't the only thing that makes it a good or bad play. Also need to think about expected benefit of the play weighted by the probability of each outcome. So the outcome he got was losing the game which obviously sucks, and had no shivarra to play in future. That's a big enough negative that even at 10% may not be worth it, whereas you don't know your opponents hand, so if the play does go your way you might just lose both minions next turn anyway. Not saying it was bad but I don't think it's 10% lose 90% win therefore do it.

You should always play Siamat on 7 in that position. He really needed to push for tempo that game considering he was running low on cards, and his deck is substantially worse when from behind. In retrospect, he would've likely used humility on Siamat, but you shouldn't play around cards specifically like that. You don't play your bad minions first to avoid having them removed, when you're losing tempo if you don't, and you're on a time limit to kill him due to his hefty card advantage. Just because a minion has a lot of power in one situation does not make its uses outside of that situation never worth considering.
