Pidge’s ‘reveal’ was what cemented the show for me. In addition to being progressive, it demonstrated not only a commitment to the writing, but an absolute mastery over characterization. Here’s a remake that just took the most hated character from the original, and completely built them from the ground up, making them fascinating, complex, deep, and also fiercely COOL.

I liked that even after the reveal she kept just being Pidge. She was female, yeah, but she still remained kind of masculine and androgynous. She didn’t have a need to be girly, she was just herself. And everyone accepted that.
