She's not trying to do all the country singers of the past years, and based on your example, your basis of country is probably the whitewashed one. This genre is from black people with soul and folk and other backgrounds. Beyoncé is revolutionary and innovative, she's not just gonna do a song based on people do, especially how yt people do it, she's gonna do the opposite of that. Hence, reclaiming this genre to the originators of country music.

I think Beyonce is going to completely shake what people think constitute a country song and show there is so much fludity in the genre. She's got storytelling in the lyrical presentation, she's singing over live steel guitar in the simplest chords. Doesnt get more Country than that, but the percussion is 100% work song/chaingang stomp. A style that is distinctly Southern Black, a style not typically found in contemporary Country radio. That also applies to that synthesizer you mentioned. That's all Black church organ,baby! Beyoncé's vocal presentation is also a gospel style and of course, she's going to rap, cuses she's Yoncè. So many Southern (ie Country) traditions are going to be honored on this album.

This about her from when she first started singing at 15. The dad lying part was when he cheated on her mom and they got a divorce

I wonder if you say “it’s not country when it comes to the delivery” for Chris Stapleton who has a soul voice with zero “twang”
@liteflightify9 ай бұрын
She’s not attempting an affected twang accent. She’s still using her soulful voice. I’m sure the production and storytelling for the whole album will reflect country, Americana, blues, zydeco, folk. It won’t be straight-up cliche country.

Yeah I think the fact that she isn't using an accent is throwing people off. I'm glad she's singing normal lol
